Make sure your optic rial bar is well lubricated.Its easy to get to,two screws in the rear,and 6 clips,2 on each side and 2 in the front.Use lithium grease it is the best.

try re installing the drivers for this printer check all cable connections once again. did the printer work well at ur frens place? and wat os did he use??

Can't believe we are all having same problem around the same point in time - built in obsolescence maybe. All reports are coming in betweek Oct, & Dec, 0f 2007

i dont really know what the problem is but you may not have to replace the printer head. all u have to do is tale it out see if the the printer head is dry or not. if so set it in water for about an hour and put it back in

The error is Data transmission error between the system control section and printer control section.

 

May be these are the problems: Look around it:::

>>Don't waste your time with Service Mode. All you need to do is take out the ink cartriges while computer is on (it will now start blinking cartrige jam) turn off printer & turn on again. Place cartriges back & press stop/reset button. Then turn off & turn on again and printer is back on line. No more flashing orange.

>>The data cable that attaches to the printer head is also attached to the back wall - make sure it is firmly attached and if not take it off and redo it/ Solved the error message instantly..

 

it is a communication problem between scnt system board and pcnt print control board. It can teardown and rebuild in 20 minutes. the waste ink tank is not a tank it is a strip of sponge material in the bottom of the printer. the printer calculates when it should be full based on how many print jobs vs your ink useage. the clear codes should have solved the problem on most printers. the part is listed as replaceable canon part #QA4-0662-000. the canon website has a phone number for replacement parts.

before you clean your printer head, try identify if there're other problems, for example maybe your ink is running low, this will cause bad quality printing. To clean your printer go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, click printers, right click on your printer icon and select properties, click on the tab maintenance and you will see what options are availible. In your case my look for something said cleaning. (NB: this is winXP)
