Error E004 is:
Faulty fuser, replace Fixing Assembly(RG5-5559-000)

Sign on to Canon's website and download the instructions for changing the toner and resetting the page count.

it is trying to resend/receive something. NG means No Good - so the beep is an indicator of the missed-tranmission.

I suspect someone inadvertently setup a pop3 check interval and it cannot connect to the specified mail server.

Check by going to the Data Registration button (flip all the plastic covers over the button pad)
go to additional settings->3.Fax settings->1.user settings->8.Lan settings->Mail User Settings->
SMTP Server->4. check interval

It should say 000MIN

I bet it is set to 2MIN

Just open the cover from where you are putting your toner cartridges and the printer will start self test and will reset from paper jam.After the printer dosn`t find any paper it will try to print your last task.
