I don't think so because printer like BJC 1000 are using Parallel Port connector or Standard Interface: IEEE 1284 parallel.
If i am you i should buy a new printer which have already USB Port Connection (Latest Model).

Canon bjc1000 will not print
check your drivers and try again, check the cable and clean if corroded, and replace anything if needed. try reinstall your pc to whatever your system is.

If your printer is BJC 1000, open the front drop down cover. The BC-02 (black) cartridge is on the right, next to a blue toggle switch. Lift the toggle, and the cartridge can be removed. You can then either refill or replace it with a new one. Hope this helps.

Hooking printer laptop
connect the printer cable to the usb port sir, and plug the power cable to the printer.. then turn it on.. thats all...
