Any old print jobs still in queue? Click on printer icon in task bar or through control panel printers, cancel all print jobs if any pending. Make sure no paper jam in the paper feed of printer. Reinstall drivers. Make sure there is ink in the cartridges.

Why is the orange light is flashing ?

Replace the applicable ink cartridge, or press the Stop button for 5 sec. or longer to continue printing without replacing the ink cartridge(s). When the error is cleared by pressing the Stop button, the function to detect the remaining ink amount is disabled

Canon i965. light tones leaning to magenta.

Because of the way they're designed, older Canon printers can sometimes get dirty print heads which can cause some ink colors not to come out properly or at all. This can cause light printing or a tendency to a certain color, like what you're describing.

The best thing to do would be to go into the Printer Settings (by opening Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes) and right-click on the i965 to select 'Properties'.

Somewhere in that menu will be an option to run a Print Head Cleaning. Find that and allow it to run, and then print a test page to see if the colors have gotten back toward normal.

If it's still printing strangely, you might want to try to find a new print head (check www.canon.com to see if they still support the i965 model). If you can't find a replacement head for the i965, it might be time to buy a new printer, since it will probably cost more to have yours looked at and repaired than it would to simply replace it. Sad, but true!

Hope this is helpful!

Printer will not print. It

Remove all the cartridges and check the cartridge parking area, you'll see the ink pads (sponge) soaked with ink on them, clean the pads and reinstall them or you can simply place a cotton ball or a piece of cloth to absorb the ink (if you can remove them, the best thing is to wash them and reinstall them after drying). [leave the printer off and unplug the power cord]

Clean all the contacts on the cartridges and on the printer (the metal contact points on both the printer and on the cartridges). You can use cotton dipped in alcohol/acetone to clean the contacts. Be careful with the print head, avoid direct contact with your hand, you may damage them.

Check for paper jam and clean passage with a blower. Verify that there's nothing obstructing the carriage (the mechanism that carries the cartridges)

After you are done with the cleaning, now power on the printer and keep pressing the cancel button while it boots up, install the cartridges while you keep tapping the cancel button.

This is actually a fatal error which needs service, but sometimes it can be repaired with the simple steps mentioned above.
If all these don't help, you need to call Canon for service (to inspect the machine personally) or better get another machine. Most printer with this error is hard to fix and we spend less than getting it repaired and once a faulty is a faulty, the problem may return. It could be firmware/bios/motherboard problem, but honestly the actual cause, I can't make it sure.

These are the tips and measure I use to take with these kinds of error, give a try and you may be fortunate to fix it by yourself.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Canon I965 waste tank almost full - how do I clean/empty or clear

You will have to get it replaced by a Canon agent.
Phone Canon for nearest agent
Just had mine done cost £50.00 +VAT

The codes on line to reset counters will not solve the problem and eventualy ink will leak from the printer.

Print head failure signal

Error 5 is an ink cartridge error. Cleaning the print head and electrical contacts on the cartridge does not fix this error. You need to get a new cartridge to fix the problem.

Waste tank almost full

Hi there

I not know if this will work for you, the only way I will know if you try it and call back to let me know then others will be able to use it.
It not really for your printer but who knows it may work.

1. Disconnect printer from AC power (take out AC cord or power off your power strip). Disconnect USB PC cable from printer.
2. Press and HOLD the POWER button (untill step 7).
3. Reconnect power cord (turn on power) to the printer.
4. The indicator should be green.
5. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator should be orange.
6. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator should be green.
7. NOW Release POWER buttons.
8. NOW Connect the printer to PC (USB cable).
9. NOW...I opened "Printers" and saw that a "copy" of my printer (i250 or i350) had been made. Make that COPY your default printer and all should work...It did for me.
