Zanussi washing machine filter
Open the panel at the bottom right of the front of the washer. Then pull out the drain hose and pull the plug from its end - this will drain most of the water. Then the filter turns anti-clockwise - if it is too stiff to turn by hand I use an open set of pliers or strong scissors to give more grip (It may be an idea to put a cloth between the pliers/scissors and the filter to offer some protection.

Thermostat or heater most likely causes. Does timer button move round without doing anything? Timer knobs on Zanussi notorious for breaking off inside.
Dirty whites
probably your soap, or there is a soap contamination issue......run the machine without adding any clothing to it and see if it suds up or not....I'm suspecting you'll get suds...a little to a lot......if I'm right, then turn it to hot, and add a half gallon of white vinegar to it and let it cycle thru....repeat that for one more cycle...then test the machine one more time for suds without adding any cloths or products to the wash......if the suds are gone or just reduced, then keep repeating til the water runs clearand to clean the dirty whites, try washing in cold water first, then hot..and obviously the whites with just whites, no colors allowed.once you clear up the extra suds, try CHARLIES SOAP....it workd great and helps keep the machine clean
The washing machine does not
Hi
This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged
drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and
remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower
front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs,
you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Hope this
helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Starts on okay, and wash light is illuminated,
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses.
If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call ;-0(

No washing although pump is working-although on
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Have you managed to chek the filter and the actual operation of the drain motor/pump?
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

The machine will not spin
This is a common problem and while it can be caused by a variety of malfunctions the most typical cause is a damaged lid switch. Look for a plastic pin attached to the bottom of the lid near the front opposite the hinges. The pin aligns with an opening in the top rim around the tub, this is where the switch is located. You can attempt to manually actuate the switch by inserting something (preferably non-conductive) like a plastic pen into the opening. This most likely will not work because the switch is probably physically damaged. To repair/replace the switch on most machines the chassis has to be removed for access.
