I would guess that the wires in the pad have been damaged. The weakest point is right where the cord connects into the pad - it is easily twisted and bent. This may be worn down, and if that is the case you may be able to realign the wire for an easy fix. It the cord is undamaged then the problem is in the pad itself. You can try to order a replacement through the company you originally bought the set from. If it is fairly new, the warranty may still be in effect. My sister goes through http://www.pioneercomfort.com and has had good results, you could try there.
