Use the manual pin hole . Maybe the motor on the burner is spoilt . Get it replaced .

I have this problem with my DVD rom too. I don't know if we have the same ones or not. I took mine apart to try and diagnose the problem, and it turns out that there was this thing inside that wasn't dropping down all the way to allow the tray to slide out, it was staying locked in place.
I was unable to find a cure for this.
However, I found that when I press the button to open the DVD rom, when it fails to open, I give the top of mt computer a slap, and it un-locks the mechanism and the DVD tray slides out properly.

it needs service, and service manuals are hard to find on anything by the likes of ACER. this projector worked for 12 long years, did you own it 12 or bought a bad projector, no history told as I can buy dead projectors all day long. and hard nut problems even hacking done.
