I replaced the thermocoupler and it still will not stay lit.

is the tip of thermocouple in the flame of the pilot. where the thermocouple screws into the control valve you just tighten it hand tight and then 1/16 of a turn. or you might have damaged the magnet. is the flame big enough on the pilot light as it might need the jet cleaned. failing all that then the magnet in the controle valve where the thermocouple screws in has failed and needs replacing if your model will allow.

Register water heater

Whirlpool water heaters are made by AOSmith company, which owns American, Reliance, State, Craftmaster and makes water heaters for Kenmore and Whirlpool. These are good heaters.Register Whirlpool product at following link:http://www.whirlpoolwaterheaters.com/support/warrantyreg.aspxIt is not necessary to register product for warranty to be valid. And if you move to new home and take water heater, then warranty does not follow. So it might be disadvantageous to register product in that circumstance. You can see brand, model number, and serial number located on label on side of tank. The serial number is unique and is key for warranty coverage, even if you lost receipt. Serial number shows year of manufacture in first two digits. http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Find-Age-of-water-heater.pdfIt is not necessary to register water heater for warranty to be valid, as long as following applies: Original owner, single-family non-commercial residential installation, and installation that conforms to instructions shown in product manual, and water heater is maintained as shown in product manual. If you purchased extended warranty, then remember the warranty is carried by a third party that also requires same as above. And the warranty may be pro-rated, rendering it nearly valueless in later years.Typical water heater warranty:First year of warranty covers tank-parts-labor.After first year, the warranty shrinks to tank-parts.The math shows that shorter warranty tank has greater percentage of full coverage.Convert ordinary 6 year tank into 9-12-15 year tank by maintaining water heater. Especially cleaning air intake located on bottom of tank, inspecting anode rod to prevent rusting, and following maintenance schedule shown in product manual.http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-maintain-water-heater.html If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/gene_9f0ef4df2f9897e7

You can't mix and match gas appliance parts, it is too dangerous. Also all repairs have to be done by a gas certified technician. It looks like there are no parts available, time for a new one, or contact Whirlpool direct for advice. https://www.google.com/search?q=BFG1F3030S3N0V+parts ..

My whirlpool smart water heater has been getting cooler for the last year. I now have the temp setting as high as it will go and soon will have no hot water. Is this a bad thermostat?

If it is like the one below the most likely reason is that the top element has failed and the bottom element is buried in limescale. If it is older than 10 years, it needs draining and servicing with new sacrificial anode. If it is older than 15 years it needs replacing. I replaced mine at 21 years as it just started to leak. The top element had failed 10 years earlier and there was 12" of scale on the bottom.

Model ee3j50rd045v whirlpool electric water heater

The only Whirlpool electric heater I know with control board is Energy Smart electric:
Open following link to identify product and download sample manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Whirlpool-Energy-Smart-electric.html

First of all, the water heater is always full of water.
When you turn on hot water tap, hot leaves top of tank, and new cold water immediately enters bottom of tank through the dip tube. The tank never has air pockets as these would damage tank as explosive steam would fill that pocket ... remember they used to run locomotives with steam power.
So the tank is always full of water, and you know that since no air comes out of the hot water faucet.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-it-works.html

You did not say if this is new heater, or if heater was working correctly and stopped functioning.

What you describe does not sound normal.
I suggest calling Whirlpool at 1-877-817-6750.
You need to have serial number and model number from label on side of tank so product can be fully identified by Whirlpool.

If control board is bad, they will know and will sell you new board.
Installation is easy, and wires are color coded.
Replacement comes with instructions.

My whirlpool gas water heater model N50T61-403 has gone out. I have tried restarting it 3 times per the manufacturers instructions. Any idea what the problem is.

My first suspect is the thermocouple has failed (they should be changed periodically, every 5-7 years as they do fail). Without the signal from the thermocouple, the gas valve can not open and start the ignition process.

Whirlpool water heater flash code 6 and burner doesn't come on but pilot is on.

6 flashes is typically found with power vented and flue damper type heaters ... whirlpool never sold a power vent, but they did sell the AO Smith brand flue damper series heater. The following manual suggest the problem is either gas supply or pilot assembly. http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Power-damper-troubleshoot-parts-manual.pdf More resources on following link: http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-gas-water-heater.html#honeywell

How do you get a 5 yr. old Whirlpool hot water heater lit?

it is a WATER HEATER. you do not need to heat HOT water. Gas or electric? Electric = turn power on Gas = instructions are on gas valve or in your manual. does not light = verify a spark at burner when you push button (can be hard to see, turn off lights), verify gas valves are on and another appliance has gas, call for service.
