Read led on the all time
may be hardware or software problem. software light this led in some cases like charging. and may can not light it down because software error. you can look after this in log files if you have any explorer in the phone memory. in ather case there is one transistor that light it up and it can be blown away.

Motorola A1000 will not start
This problem can be because the software is cracked after bootloader or there is not enоugh memory free. try reseting the phone. you can find keyboard combination for hard reset on internet.

Gps
ok, well as far as i remember gps doesnt come standard with the a1000, it has an agps socket which means gps capabilities for programs like tom tom. But the only thing i can tell u is to turn on ur agps socket before using the program, otherwise your gps program may have been deleted, thats all i can say as if u do(or did) have a gps program on there it should show up in applications icon.

Problem
k, having an a1000 i have had similiar problems except in my case could not recognise a memory card the same as the 1 i alrdy had in it, i also had a problem witgh the slot for the memory card, which in ur case cud be that simple that u have overlooked it, my suggestion is to try different sims in it and see if a network works, if none do try getting ur card and making sure its stuck into the slot, im sorry this isnt much help but cud possibly be a pcb error or may have a problem with the receptor.

Unlock mobile phone from the three network a motorola A1000
Here in the UK most markets (out door street type) will have a stall who will unlock most handsets for about 5gbp (or 10usd) you could also ask three themselves to give you the unlock code, they do so here in the UK and europe. Tell them you are to travel abroad and wish to use a local sim card to make calls. Also do a google search for "A1K" and go to the site at top of list "machman" they have downloads of firmware which is unlocked.

Phone simply wont charge
You have to use right Charger Model :PSM5049 A
Input 100/240V ~50/60 Hz .0.4A (Amper) !!!!!!!
Output 4.4V --1.5 A
The one you using probably is for Blure Tooth wich is weaker:
Model PSM 5037B
Input 100/240V ~50/60Hz 0.1A Amper
Output 5.9V 375mA

My motorola lcd touch screen brokened
Hello,
The screen of the a1000 model is composed of 2 parts, the lcd display and the touchscreen pannel wich are both secured in the same housing, protected by a metal frame. Even if you only broke the lcd screen (and the touchscreen is still ok) in most cases, a service center will replace the entire screen assembly. It will cost somewhere around $100-200 depending on wich service center you choose. If you try this operation in a service center, the costs will be greater because you will buy a new screen and pay the labour part. It would be greater if you can buy a second hand broken a1000 with a good display and change it yourself. A1000 and the P9xx series are very easy to dissasemble and work with. You may receive further informations and pictures if you reply with this request.
The short answer would be to try to avoid a service intervention to the phone. It will be very expensive. the a1000 model was made in 2003 so the spare parts that can be found today are expensive and hard to find. Try finding a second hand unit, you may strike a good deal with it.
hope this helps,
Bogdan

What network?
Usually a call to the network operator or a visit to their website will provide a method whereby the network can push the settings to your phone via the network.

A1000
Is the IDEA sim card a 3G USIM or a 2/2.5G SIM?
The A1000 is a 3G phone, and the SIM card is not the same as a 2/2.5G SIM, so compatibility is not guaranteed and may be the cause of your reboots.
