hmm, it could be something simple such as a faulty cable from mic to pc, it could be a faulty input if you are using a mixer, could be a faulty mic, it could even be a piece of software running in the background that is conflicting with sonar and causing this problem. This should be an easy problem for your "engineer" to sort out. as seeing it makes it 100 times easier to fault find. Thats part of being an engineer!
Device does not power up from usb port. was ok
Be sure to try all available USB ports on your computer as some-times they get damaged and don't offer a good connection or they damage other components. Check your USB ports, make sure they look good, it's 4 flat neat connection pins/points. Over time they can be damaged, in which case a pin/point gets bent and pushed to the back of the plug meaning that it will either damage devices plugged into it or it will simply not function.
It might also be an idea to try this device in another computer to eliminate your computer as the faulty component.
Take care!

1. check your user manual for clicks/pops.
this could be due to devices connected to the Edirol UA-25 or a television or microwave.
2. this also could be due to the setting in Windows Energy saving settings.
that is the Windows "sleep mode" and power saving mode.
3. this could also be due to the USB cable.
4. you may need an external filter device for the process you are using.

Connect it before powering system. The usual cause of no power on this is improper software configuration or assignment in the PC regarding the sound devices. It is NOT a "fuse" problem.
Make sure that when you go to "Sounds and Devices" in the control panel that the "Voice" tab is shown assigned to the UA-25. If not, make sure it is in the list of devices and assign it as default.

Hi julle_165.
Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue is caused by the Skype Application.
However, you may resolve this issue by performing the below steps.
1) Open the Skype Application and click on the "Options".
2) Then, click on "General and Audio Settings".
3) Then, in each of the three fields make sure you specify exactly which Sound Device you want to use.
4) Then, make sure that you do not select the ""Windows Default Device" option.
5) Click on the down arrow and find the Device you want.
6) Then, click on the "Save" option.
7) This should retain the Device settings which you have selected.
8) But, if you insert a new Sound Device into the Windows Operating System, it sometimes changes the settings to the new Device every time you insert it.
9) Just keep checking there that it is set on the device you want.
Performing the above steps should resolve the issue.
Hope this helps.
