Clean the little glass part on the scanner. That part has residue on it causing your problem. Use a lint free cloth and water.

Go to HP Support & Drivers.

Remove completely and re install. If that does not do it , might be that the application is not compatible with the OS you are currently using. If so, maybe HP has an update to the app that was furnished with your scanner.

You either have a scratch on your glass, or your scanner is going bad. 1. Clean the glass, then scan again. If you still have that line, Wipe the hell out of the glass and blow air through the calibration holes. If that doesn't work, take it back and get a replacement. The scanner is not working correctly.

And you may not, but you can go around by importing/scanning the graphic/picture in to a software like photoshop, firework. Once scanned you can save the graphic/picture to any format you wish.

You can try running the scanner diagnostics to see if there is hardware issue. Also check your USB cable. In my case running diagnostics managed to fix the issue.
