This means that the scanner is experiencing an error. The best solution is to reinstall the drivers for this scanner using the disk that came with the unit. I trust you have already made sure that the USB connector is connected to your computer. Try all USB ports on your computer, front ones and rear ones.

If the problem persists see the HP website and click their support/downloads button and find the latest driver download for your model of scanner. New drivers may work this problem out.

The scanner has a locking device for transport. If it has inadvertently gotten flipped it will cause this issue. Look for the little green or blue tab labeled "Lock" "Unlock" making sure it is unlocked.

Otherwise , if you absolutely want to keep your scanner , read this workaround :
solution one :
If you have the W XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of W XP on your machine from

solution two :
If you still have the install disc , you can also partition your primary and install W XP on the new partition from http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html.
Back up your data first.
solution three :
I have Win 7 on my primary and installed Win XP on my secundary . Works like a charm .
If nothing of this works , you' ll need to buy a new scanner .

Commence par deleter Director Player . Va ensuite sur Device manager ( gestionnaire des p?riph?riques ) et delete ( pas seulement d?sinstaller ) le pilote du scanner .
D?connecte le scanner . Va dans le Control pannel ( panneau de configuration \ programmes ) et delete le logiciel de ton scanner . Fais un restart .
Ne connecte pas encore le scanner . R?installe le logiciel pilote . Fais un restart . Attends que le systeme d' exploitation soit compl?tement stabilis? .Reconnecte le scanner et attends confirmation que le pilote est correctement install? . Cela devrait marcher ? pr?sent .
Si oui , r?installe Director Player et vois ce qui se passe .

The problem is that your HP Director software needs to be reinstalled? Run the setup program and when the splash screen comes up, choose the option that says "Add another device"

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the printer on to the computer.. Also make sure that the ink cartridges are inserted properly and that no errors are appearing on the printer.

I think you have installed Java to your PC. You have download then install the Java in your PC. then try again.
