If you are under Windows 7 , it's because HP doesn't produce anymore drivers for your unit beyond VISTA .
Download the latest driver available from here : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=77368&
and try running your scanner with it . If you don't succeed , try in compatibility mode .
If it still doesn't work please don't blame me , blame HP .
Best regards .

I have a HP scanner

Hello,

I believe the drivers for the scanner is what is making it not recognize your mac. I think you did not install the drivers (CD) for the scanner, or the driver (CD) you have is not for Mac operating system.

Go to the Hp link below, select Mac operating system (Choose Mac OS X or Mac OS 9, these are the two available). Then proceed for the driver download.

After downloading the drivers, install it on your Mac and try connecting the scanner thereafter.

Give the above solution a trial, as it should solve the problem.

Good luck.

Light bar stops too soon

I assume you are using this with a computer. One thing comes to mind that relates to software. You should be able to do a preview scan of the whole scanner bed, then move the frame to the area you want to scan only, sort of like cropping the picture. If those crop borders are set to less than the whole document, you will get this kind of scan.

Now if that isn't the problem, the scanner likely has a electronic issue unless the scanner has had a nasty fall. If you want to really explore deep and don't mind if it doesn't work afterwards, turn the scanner off and unplug the power. Open it up just enough to access the optical unit and see if it will move the entire length of the scanner without binding where you experience the end of the scan. Go rather slowly and gently so you don't strip the toothed belt if it has one. You will feel a wierd sensation and some resistance as you move it along which has to do with the stepper motor and that's normal. If that works, it's likely it failed on it's own. If it binds where the scan ends, you'll have to investigate whether it's due to a rusty rail (hope not!) or some other obstruction.

Good luck!

I have an hp scanjet

Could possibly be broken down or faulty scanner.

read this page and go over the steps.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bps05270&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&rule=23276&product=77368

Also try to completely uninstall the machine from your system, first by uninstalling the software, start -> control panel -> uninstall programs or "add or remove programs". find the scanner shoftware and related and uninstall them.

then open the device manager by right clicking on my computer you should find it from your desktop or from the start menu, right click and select Manage.
on the management window on the left side select device manager, now on the right side, find imaging devices, right click on your scanner and select uninstall, if you have the option also check uninstall driver software.

make sure there is no trace of the scanner in device manager and then unplug the scanner.

Restart the computer.

now with the device uninstall and the programs uninstalled. download the latest software for it from
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=77368&

install the softwares and plug in the scanner when asked or after the setup.

the scanner should get installed in few minutes after which you should be able to scan, if not then restart the computer.

Try scanning anything and see if the problem is still there or not?

Thank you,
Ekse

My HP flatbed Scanner 1500 all in one does not scan

If you are using Windows Vista OS, then you are not likely to have the scanning feature functional as its version of the machine's drivers does not include scanner. Otherwise you could have succeeded in printer installation. It is recommended to install the drivers without connecting/attaching the device to the system until when prompted incase you want to re-install the software. Good luck

HP 4570c scans totally black or bluish-green with vertical bars

It could be one of two things:

1) The scanner isn't registering black or white during the initialization processing depending on what color it needs to get it started.

2) The CCD unit in the scanner could be failing which could explain why it was only working briefly before getting worse.

Scanning bar light

Do you mean the green power light? I have the same brand and a similar scanner, and the light does always stay on. I think it is a normal function of the scanner. It may not be a good idea to unplug the scanner. I am going to be a bit more research so that we can both be reassured that this is normal.
I'll get back to you.
