The error that your having is a hardware issue, it means your printer has an Ink System Failure. Believe me, there's no use going through troubleshooting for this one. Call HP and just Upgrade your printer. HP Printer Tech Support would be more than happy in giving you discounts and an extra year of warranty for $1.00.

I had the same problem, but the carriage was jamming on the right. When the carriage is in the right, there is a component that moves front and back under the carriages to clean them. The rails that this component moves on were covered with sticky ink and so it wasn't moving freely. I disconnected the power and used q-tips with mild cleanser to remove the ink from the rails. This fixed the problem.

Hi,<br /> <br /> Turn off the scanner or disconnect it. <br /> <br /> Select your HP Scanjet type from the selection.<br /> <br /> <br /> Select "Microsoft Windows XP" from the list of operating systems.<br /> <br /> <br /> Click the Driver "Download" and, if you want the additional software, "HP System Diagnostics Utility."<br /> <br /> Double click the downloaded driver file to launch setup. Check the scanner bulb - it's suppose to light up when you copy or scan. Look inside the scan bed and as you copy or scan, it should light and move across the bed.

Try to remove each panel that opens and check for broken pieces of paper
Recycle the system by reinstalling the software once again.

Hello,

Go to this site:

HP PSC1610 Support

Click on the Software & Driver Downloads link.

Enter your operating system on the next page. Click Next.

Under Driver you can download basic or full featured drivers.

My best advice: Download the software to your desktop. (DO NOT RUN from the site.)

Power up the printer but do not connext the cable to the computer.

Run (double-click) the file you downloaded. Connect the printer when prompted.

The link above should be bookmarked. There is a lot of information available. You might want to download the manual and check it out.

Thanks for using Fixya.

i have the same problem with my hp 900 inkjet...i tried to google but i can't find any answer on how to solve this problem :(

You can source the power plug from any Computer accessories center. The short and the long type can be bought from any of these shops.
You don't have to wait for the part to be sourced from HP service unless it is closer to your place.

Hi and welcome to fixya,

Easiest to find one is to search on ebay on nearest place to your location. You can find cheap parts there instead of buying a brand new power supply.

Hope this helps,
levibit

PS. What country are you from? So i may find you one.

First pull out the ink cartridge. On the bottom, you'll find a metallic strip that looks like aluminum. Gently clean off any ink on it with a soft damp cloth. Then look at the rollers that feed the paper through and clean any ink off those that you see.

can you make a copy with the printer? Are there any error messages on the printer itself?

what is the error you are getting when adding it? What is the OS?

HP PSC 1610... | Answered on Jan 15, 2011

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.

Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.

Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.
