The HP Scan Diagnostic Utility might not be available for all HP products, particularly older products. It is available for most products, however, and in most languages.

Make sure your computer meets the system requirements, and then click Download .

When the Security Warning dialog box opens, click Save . The Save As dialog box opens. Important: HP recommends that you save the download according to the following directions to ensure that you can easily access the tool again at a later time.

Click Desktop , and then click Save . The Scan Diagnostic Utility is now saved to your desktop so that you can access it any time.

When the Download Complete dialog box opens, click Run , and then click Run again on the Security Warning dialog box.

When the tool finishes installing, click Finish . The Scan Diagnostic Utility opens automatically with a list of installed products.

Are you using genuine HP cartridges or re-fills? If you are using refills, there is likely a chip problem on the cartridge. Only genuine media should be used; or a quality remanufactured cartridge.

there is a jack port for the tel. line on the side or back of the printer

it can be either an error from the extension format of the pictures..or the way the card is formatted into...The camera may use a different formatting standard that the printer do not see...(FAT instead of FAT 32 ) or something like that ...To be sure try another card from another camera ...if it does the same than you know that it is something wrong with the reader into the printer ..If the other works than it is just the card from this camera ..
Meanwhile download the pictures into a computer and print them from there ..If you have a laptop (or a desktop with a card reader ) it 's even easier cause you can insert the card in the reader and print from there ..
Anyway try to reset the printer to the factory defaults...(settings of the manufacturer) and see if this make a difference ..

intact it is the windows update which has messed up ...
do one thing install the software completely and do not open HP director.
then download the full feature software for a higher version photosmart printer .keep the printer connected and powered on
start the installation for the higher version priner .. when it prompts for installation type chose advanced type then chose custom install. in the next window put a check in the drivers, solution center & photo and imaging device. click next ,it ll prompt u to connect the device . check the box which says connect later and complete the installation.. in this process HP director ll be over written with hp solution center open that from desktop shortcut and scan

Hello Dear.. Printing problem with your HP Printer, let try first, See if any light are flashing on the panel indicating red flashing light. then At the back take off the cover you will see a little handle on both side take off the cover and see if any paper is jam in the machine.. then put cover back...Then press setup push the arrow bottom up or down for menu choose inck level... See if you need to replace your Inc.

Make sure that they are new cartridges.
Also make sure, that you took off the strip off where the ink come out.

Then shut if off, wait 15 min, then turn back on.

hello, i don't know what operating system you are using, but i went to hp web site, they have an uninstall tool for this product for xp, i don't see one for vista or windows 7. if you are using xp or 2000, i would recommend using this program, it does a better job removing all hp garbage for this product, though, you might have to run a couple of times to make sure. then i would try again with the new install that you down load from hp, i would not use the one from the disk. before you do that, make sure that the usb cable is disconnected from the printer, and wait for the computer and software to tell you when to plug in usb, not before, because it might try to reinstall over itself, again and again. i hope this helps a little.

Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . This must solve or there is some software conflicts that is giving errors on document.
