My HP 6100 series all in one wants to align cartridge

This document explains the different results obtained when using or not using the Automatic Reduction (or Auto Reduction) Feature. The following issues usually result when the Automatic Reduction feature is not set correctly:
  • Faxes printing too small
  • Faxes printing on more than one page
  • A blank page ejecting between each printed fax page
This feature can be turned ON (the default) or OFF from the Advanced Fax Features menu. The two main purposes of the Auto Reduction feature
  • Fits a received fax page onto the paper size loaded in the paper tray and selected in the paper size setting of the Basic Fax Setup. For example; if letter size paper is loaded in the paper tray and selected in the fax settings and a legal size document is received, each page will be reduced and printed on one letter sized paper.
  • Allows the addition of the fax header margin at the top of every printed fax without extending the fax onto another page. The fax header is printed at the top of every fax received with identifying information about the fax sender. Since this increases the overall page length, the page must be reduced to fit onto one page. Auto reduction slightly shrinks the fax as it is received so the entire page will print on one piece of paper even though a top margin is allowed for the fax header.

My HP Officejet 4500 keeps

Try removing the cartridges, closing the printer, and disconnect the power. Let sit for at least 10 minutes, then hook up the power, wait until it stops making noises, the reinstall the cartridges, black first, then color, and if the alignment comes up again, press cancel. This should remove the error.

I haveHP 6110 all-in-one printer that I can make copies from my lab top computer by...clicking on print...connects to printer.....says paper jam...I then press "enter" on the printer....a sheet of pap

You may try to reset the printer per HP instructions. 1. Turn on printer with power button 2. With printer on, disconnect power cord from rear off printer. 3. Unplug power cord from outlet 4. Wait at least 15 seconds 5. Plug the power back into the outlet 6. Reconnect power cord to the rear of the printer 7. If printer does not come on, press the Power button.

HP Officejet 6110 xi All-In-One will not scan

This is an interesting problem because a printer isn't "intelligent" the way a computer is "intelligent". While devices such as the 6110 have RAM and thus "memory", they don't have the ability to recognize which devices are connected to it, as such. That's why you have to install all of the HP software and drivers onto the Windows or Mac machines, so the burden of recognition and interfacing is on them.

That said, information and even errors can be stored in a printer as long as it's receiving power...sometimes even when they're turned off.

My first suggestion is to completely turn off the 6110 and unplug it both from it's supply of power and from any computers.

Let it set for around 30 seconds to a minute so that any residual power from the "brick" dissipates.

Reboot the Windows computer.

Then plug the 6110 back into it's power supply and attach it back to the Windows computer.

Power up the 6110 and let it go through it's start up and alignment routine.

Try to scan again as you originally did before you tried to us your Macbook with the 6110. Hopefully that will do it.

If, for some reason, the Windows machine is still not able to interface with the 6110, you may have to completely uninstall all of the HP software and drivers from the laptop and reinstall them using the original installation CD, just as if you were installing the printer with the laptop for the first time.

This means (assuming you have Windows XP), going to Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. You'll need to go through the list after "Add or Remove Programs" opens to select and uninstall all the software and drivers that have anything to do with the 6110. Hopefully, this'll be just one or two selections.

If you have the original CD, you can also insert it and it should offer you the option to uninstall the original software and drivers. That would be the easiest. Then you could just turn around and do a reinstall from the disc, no muss, no fuss.

If you do not have the original CD (and believe me, these things get lost all the time), you can still download all the latest software for the 6110 onto the Windows laptop by going to this web page at HP.com:

Officejet 6110 Software and Drivers

Once you go to that page, you'll need to select your particular Windows operating system name. You'll be taken to the web page where you can download the installation software and the latest drivers. Once they're reinstalled onto your system, you should be good to go.

You "may" be able to install the latest software and drivers without uninstallng the old stuff first (that is, you could be offered the option to overwrite the old software when you install the newer software),. but that's not as "clean" and instead of curing the problem, it could make it worse. If you're a risk taker, go for it. If not, don't take the chance of more headaches.

I probably made this sound more complicated than it is. Good luck and post back your results.

HP Officejet J4550 All In One Reset Button

Hp printer/scanner J45501 day my parents did not power off my printer, they simply unplugged it so they can plug it into another room that had a phone jack so that they could fax something to the bank. ( too lazy to get a extra phone cable or just drive to the bank.. ) well anyways , they moved it, and plugged the power cable in.. as soon as they hit the power button, it went... CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK... for about 1 minute.it would let them auto print a blank sheet of paper.but it would not let them access the fax or scan options.the printer said read the manual ect...its an old printer.. no manual...But.. what i noticed is that.. this click noise was not really printer related. what it was ... was actually the scanner !If you open the scanner door ( the top part of the printer)you will notice that on the right side.. when you hear the clickingits actually the scanners light wheel machine bounceing back n forth on the right side. about 1 minute after you open the door, then the light turns off and the scanner lazer wheel thing moves to the left. I noticed that on the right side.. there was some white plastic dust... you will notice how there is a line going across that kind of looks like a coat zipper with the plastic tringle's / line .well 1 of the triangle's broke... so its like a broken coat zipper.. and the printer can't get the scanner lazer thing to the right side of the printer, so it kind of gets stuck... so basically... you need a new printer :( or if you are a plastic specialist.. or can find some type of plastic replacement, you would be able to melt some plastic or glue something idk.. well anyways, i just wanted to share my store.the clicking on my printer came from the scanner lazer light not being able to reach the right side of the printer box b/c of a missing tringle plastic thing on a plastic line.like i said, you could try to re-melt some plastic their, but it wouldn't last all that long... metal would work, just has to stay in the shape of the other small triangles. ( best option is to just buy a new printer )you can get them for like 40 to 50 $ at wal-mart and they normally even come with ink...
