How do I copy a legal size document?
You need to change it in the menu, it's stopping because once it reaches the letter size the sensor detects that there is still paper there and jams.

After turning on computer, reoccuring grinding
Whats going on from the sound of it is something stopping moving the scanner up and down OR your scanner cant find its referance point. These dont normally bust a gear but do get dusty You need to look at the scanner and see what it is doing on power up, is it trying to move as if threw the edge of the machine? (no white reference) so keeps trying and thats the noise the scanner movin a mm then another trying to find home but failing.. usally due to dirty mirrors or blown lamp..Either way I'd watch a few times,... y0u know the lamp under the lid that moves up and down;0..Yuor HP should turn on lamp and shine it in the inside edge of the machines copy glass near after power upYou can manual move it with power off to the other end and then after removing your hand plug it in and turn it on and see what the scanner does, I bet it moves fine untill it get near home then starts dancin untill it gives up throwin your error (aka dirty mirrors, just use clean lint free soft somethin, no chemicals just good clean of mirrors. or somethings stopping the carriage movin.Let us know how you go.. CheersThe Fix... if Im guessing right that is..... is to remove the Torx screws that HP use (need a a torx driver) that hold on the glass, it needs to come out so you can clean the scanner mirrors reflector and lamp (DANGER 240v live UNPLUG;) and ensure the systemt runs well up and down the scan rail, i think you have to fight to remove the plastic cover from the operations panel too,and on some the Doc feeder has to come off, but on yours I think its the op panel to go so you can get to a screw or something.

Press enter to alline cartridges
Hi,If you are getting Alignment failed or Align cartridge Error, It could be because of these possible reasons listed below.1. Faulty Cartridge ( if you are replacing one now )2. Refilled Cartridge ( not filled properly )3. Cartridge Low on ink ( does not give printer enough ink to align the printer )4. Could also be Hardware Issue ( Most of the time the HP Printer has life time of 4-5 years )First step, Remove all the cartridges out and clean the electrical contacts ( golden Contacts ) with a lint free cloth and Re-install them againIt should go through the alignment process and complete it.If it does not, Try to access the Setup menu and under tools you will find Align Printer, Try this.If the Cartridge ink is full or has adequate ink ( atleast 30% in each cartridge ), and the cartridge is not refilled, then the last option is to do a hard reset on the printer. But Doing the reset your printer will loose network connection, all the printer settings and fax logs,To do the Reset,Disconnect the power cord from back of the printer ( while printer is powered on )While holding the # and 6 button at the same time, Connect the power cord back.Go through the setup process to re-setup the printer settings,If it still does not align the printer, You may give a try to install using new cartridge ( but i doubt, it could be the end of the printer.)Call HP and check if they have any good offer or they can help you with aligning the printer once.Regards,Suhail

Cartridge wagon stuck cannot get the cartridge out
Unplug the printer from the power outlet. Press and hold the power button for sixty seconds. Open the printer hatch and grab the ink carriage and gently slide it back and forth to make sure it is not stuck. Then plug the printer back in and turn it on and try again. that should solve your issue.

Remove the HP software from your computer through the control panel. Go to hp's website and download and install a new copy. You can get a copy of the software from their website for free at hp.com.

How do i connect an hp officejet printer to a
Download and install the drivers & software necessary for your printer from HP's website (
www.hp.com) on your laptop. After the software and/or drivers are installed, connect the printer to the laptop with a usb cable. As long as the software is installed the pc should recognize the printer as soon as the usb cable is connected. Then just print as normal.

When I scan a document, I don't seem to have
This maybe so, as PDF is a proprietary service, and the scanner doesn't support it? have you all the drivers and software installed? anyway, what you need to do, is scan whatever it is, in as a document or a picture whatever, and then process if with a PDF converter. Check out the master search link below and simply choose one download and install, then import the scan into the PDF converter and convert. There are also some programs that will scan PDF a Google search should turn them up?

HP Director icon does not appear
In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken. Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.
Thank you for using Fixya

My printer keeps telling me "print cartridge
Hello,
Maybe the contacts where the cartridge sits are dirty. What you can do is remove both cartridges and turn the printer off, pulling the power cable out so that the cartridge holder remain in the change position and you can see it. Then clean the gold contacts with a piece of cotton fabric soaked with medical alcohol. Left the printer turned off for 10-15 minutes so that the contacts become dry. Then turn it on and reinstall the cartridges. This might help.

I cant install my hp
Try here:-
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=79477&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=uk&y=10&x=7
if that doesn't work start at the HP support website.:-
http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support-drivers.html
You will need to enter your operating system details as you go. You should be able to download, save and then install the driver you need. Also operating instructions and other bits and bobs if required.
