Go to paint create black,cyan,megenta & yellow images & print it, observe which colors are not printing,If back missed replace black cartrige, if any color missed out of remain three replace colour cartridge.There is no option to switch off the catridges & printer can recognise the faulty cartridge and it will show on displays. You can order cartridges online.
Hmmm, how long did you leave the battery out. One time I had to leave it out about 1 hour. That worked for me.
Worth a shot, also check to make sure that the carriage is in it's proper place. Open the maint. door like you are going to change the ink, check to make sure all seated properly, close cover and see if error goes away. Also try unpluggin from power and plug back in.
if it doesn't print anything, there is a problem with the ink cartridges, if it just prints extra blank pages, you need to verify the printer settings have the correct page settings, and that your word processor doesn't add extra pages to your documents.
Cleaning, unfortunately takes up a lot of ink. Check ink levels. If you need to, you may have to put new cartridges in every 100 or 120 pages or so depending on how colorful the documents are.
