Can't print from Adobe Acrobat

I am using Windows Vista and trying to print from Adobe Acrobat to HP PSC 1210. Everytime I print, the printer prints a page of garbage. There are no drivers to install, and Adobe is running the most updated version. Any ideas on how to print from Adobe? Thanks.

HP PSC 1210 all-in-one Director does not work with VISTA

When attempting to select print quality (Draft, Better, Best) from the print window Preferences tab a window quickly appears and disappears on the screen like the function is there but it's not. HP Director is non existant, always getting a compatibility diagnostic with no soloution. There are ways you guys show to scan, but can't select print type or really control print quality, it just prints thank God and HP wants you to buy another printer, KMA.

I've been fighting the same. Did some hunting on the HP and MS web sites. Found a "work around". Not what I wanted but at least I can scan. I think HP Director is gone for Vista users. :(

Scanning with Windows Photo Gallery
1. Click the Start ( ) icon.
2. Click All Programs .
3. Click Windows Photo Gallery .
4. Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera .
5. Click Import .
6. Click Scan .

These "Experts" are ****! Thanks to Yahoo Answers I found a VERY simple solution which I had totally overlooked!! Don't uninstall / reinstall printer drivers before checking in your control panel under "Scanners and Cameras"! Make sure that your device is listed and the "Scanner and Camera Wizard" will take it from there. Next time I will go straight to Yahoo instead of this lame excuse for a "tech" site!

Two problems;

1 - This unit cannot be set back to factory settings as it does not have the keypad to enable this functionality.

2.
Most of the time when the error pops up it is due to problems with either the printer reading the cartridge is in from the contacts or the cartridge contacts are damaged.

I should also point out that refilled and remanufactured cartridges are the number one reason for the error but assuming that you are using hp cartridges fresh out of the pack take a look at this link and follow the steps. I would type them out but it even has pictures for easy reference!!

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00042818&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=79499&dlc=en&lang=en

If you are not using hp cartridges then replace with genuine cartridges and it will most likely resolve the issue - the printer is able to tell the difference between a new and refilled/remanufactured and often times will reject the cartridge because of this.

Hi *s*

(bottom left corner windows START)
got to;
start/settings/printers/ and click

right click your printer and select printing preferences
click on the tab that says SERVICES
then click on the services icon button (picture)

you will see three choices;
align,
clean
print a test page.

Aligning is what you want.(calibration is just a different word)

You can also remove the ink cartridges as you usually do and then put them back in, this triggers and automatic printed page and then walks you through scanning and the alignment.*s*

if by chance you still have blurry printing and know your machine should be ok, try cleaning.( same procedure, different last choice- you clean the heads)

You can also check to see if the proper paper is selected. For instance, if you are trying to print heavy greeting card paper it must be set to that or it will not print properly. *s*

If you have thrown up your hands and tried all this, and nothing works. Go through your printer preferences and select SET DEFAULT SETTINGS buttons.
It will knock everything back to the way it left the factory *S*

Thank you and good luck. Please remember to give my answer a rating *S*

  1. Check the back of your computer to make sure that the printer is appropriately connected to the computer and is plugged in. If the printer is not plugged into the computer, find the printer jack on the back of the computer and plug it in before you move on to the next step.
  2. Step 2 Click on the "Start" menu button which is located on bottom left hand corner of your screen. Click on the "Settings" bar and notice that a list of functions pop up to the left of the settings button. Click on the control panel icon.
  3. Step 3 Look for the printer/fax icon in the control panel window. Double click on the printer icon.
  4. Step 4 Find the icon for your printer in the opened window and right click on the icon. Now click on the "Preferences" option.
  5. Step 5 Look for the menu box pop up with tabs near the top of the box. Click on the "Services" tab.
  6. Step 6 Click on "Service this device." You will find the button on the Services menu that you just activated.
  7. Step 7 Click on the estimated ink level tab and a graphic will appear indicating how much ink is left in the cartridge.
