Hi Kristin,
Open the printer door by pressing the two door latches. The cartridge is in a slot with its handle facing you.Take the cartridges handle and pull out the cartridge from the printer.Take the cartridge and shake a little bit to evenly distribute the ink.Hold the cartridge by the handle with the arrows facing the printer and slide it back into the printer.Make sure its properly seated into the black grooves.Close the printer and paper paths doors firmly.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Unfortunately this is a common HP thing. it seems to happen to all HP printers made in the last 4 years.

I see this all the time, and then the next page is just fine, HP can give no reason why it does this.

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/sean_54c3a3dc48a7773c

First thing that comes to mind is that a 4x6" print could print four wallet sized photos; be shure your are not printing more than one copy.

If you are trying to print more than one,it will print the actual picure you have and leave space for the number of other nonexistent prints selected.

See page 75 of the Manual. for directions on how to set up photo printing.

If you have photoshop, you can resize your documents using the menu item, Image / Image size, (Alt + i then i again)

Set the resolution to 300, then the document size width to 6 or 10 inches.

This will guarantee that your document is full size, (though the printer should be able to resize it to fit on the page no matter what).

Give these a try. It's really a shot in the dark, but it's my best guess.

Cheers.
Richard.

need to buy a "paper separation pad kit" once you get the new pad, remove the toner cartridge and with a long phillips screwdriver remove two screws that holds the paper feed roller, remove the roller and now you have a full view of the separation pad, with a little flat screwdriver PEEL the rubber from both separation pads the old inside the printer and the new one you just got,put the new rubber sep pad in the printer and put the paper feed roller back.....printer will work as new again....

The only fix I have used is a cold reset there is a firmware upgrade you can try if this does not work.
TRY THIS:
Turn the machine off and unplug for 1 minute or so.
Plug the unit back in:
Press and Hold the enter/menu key and asterisk key
Turn ON
Hold the enter/menu key and asterik key while the unit powers up. Once you see the message "Permanent Storage Initialization" let go of the keys.
Hope this helps

There is a little sensor switch in the paper tray for the scanner, and when you put the paper in, it will flick the switch so the printer knows that there is a document there. If the switch has failed, then you will be presented with this problem. Check the paper intake for dirt and grime, and also see if you can see the switch. It's usually a little black lever. Make sure it is there, and also that it moves freely. Don't pull at it too much or you could break it more. If it isn';t there, take your unit to a service centre for repair.

Your problem seems to be the feed and separation pad/roller.
Open up the cover where you set the paper at and there you should see at least one pad and one roller. Clean them up with a wet rug. try to clean it up as much as you can. It the problem fixes it for at least a while it means is time for you to get new ones (pad and roller)
