powering up the printer whilst holding the tick/menu button takes you to service menus/diagnostics and is perfectly normal. Suggest you dont HOLD buttons down for excessive time and instead just press and let go. this should work better for you!

First take half test page. see what about the page if same dots appear replace toner cartridge, the black not come replace the teflon sleeve

Adding more RAM to the printer will increase the printer's performance.

This is a fatal error. I can tell you exactly what is wrong but you need to press and hold the go button and post what light you see when you do that. I can then give you the exact item that has failed.

Hi there,
It seems that " Print on both sides (Manually)" is selected in printing options., when you want to print any document Go to file Print > select printer and click properties and disable the Manual printing option in device settings.
You should be able to get printing without errors,
if the option is not checked then check for the default paper tray,
save the settings and reboot your laptop/desktop and restart printer as well so that settings should work properly and any given command gets clear from memory, If these all settings are ok, Uninstall the printer driver and download the latest version drivers from HP website and install see links below

If you open the cover and take out the cartridge,You will see a grey roller inside the machine that can be clipped out,clean it with a damp cloth and clip it back in place!Should solve the problem!!

If you are getting a "shadow" behind the text or image it is probably your fuser that is causing the problem. Anytime you see a double image or the print is smearing the fuser (aka fixing assembly) is to blame. You can troubleshoot the problem to see for sure before calling out a technician. Send a one page test print job to the printer. Open the rear "output" tray so that the print job exits the rear of the printer. Watch the paper as it is pulled into the machine. When you see the leading edge of the print exiting the printer open up the front door of the printer. This will of course cause the machine to jam up but its worth it. Carefully remove the toner cartridge. Look at the print on the page still inside the machine. Do you see the same grey image? If not then the problem is the fuser. If you do see the grey image then the problem is the toner cartridge. Stopping the print job in the middle of the printer like that allows you to see what the image looks like before it goes into the fuser. If the fuser is the problem call a tech. It is about a $100 - 150 repair for the fuser depending on the labor rates where you live.

Remove it. Clean it gently with rubbing alcohol and carefully reinstall it. Still no good, remove the printer from your system and reinstall the latest driver available for your OS.

If you are having trouble installing the printer on the computer, there could be a problem with the operating system (you don't say if you are using 98, 98 Second, Mill~, XP, Vista or 7 or other OS). You might want to check the Microsoft Compatability Listing (use your favorite search engine to find the list) to see if your OS supports the device.

If you are using Linux or Mac, you will have to search at related sites for devices supported. Again, you don't say what OS so it is hard to further direct you in this regard.

If you have the software and you have searched the listings and you have the proper cable connecting your printer to your computer and it still doesn't work, post a comment to this question for more assistance.

if you have printer driver for vista install that one and check...............

go to hp site and download vista drivers or their update. If that doent work... it means thee is no suitable driver for this model and vista. That is why others have switched back to xp.

I went to the HP web site. If the three lights are blinking in turn, the printer is still trying to initialize or clear a previous job. If all of the lights are on but not blinking, you should turn off the printer and then turn it back on. If that doesn't help, turn it off and unplug it for 5 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. If the printer still gives an error, contact HP. If the three lights are blinking simultaneously, you have a memory error. However, the DIMMs are not replaceable on the HP 1150, if I understand correctly.

It is may be Problem with printer Fuser.
1.Confirm there is no paper pieces in backside fuser unit.if yes remove the printer cover take out the fuser unit and remove the paper pieces.
2.if there is no paper pieces you must replace
fuser unit Teflon or entire fuser unit. ordinary teflon costs about Rs300.(6 dollars)

you probably have a piece of paper inside printer or you have damage a paper sensor path while removing jammed paper.
