A clear thin strip is very loose behind the ink

That is probably the Timing Belt.Without out that, the printer can't print. It's like blindfolding a golfer on the putting green. He won't have a clue to anything. Get it checked out.

It won't respond to commands.

Hi

Take out the ink cartridges and reseat it again. If you have low ink, then replace it with new ones. The printer will be good to go. One or both print head are defective. Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover. If blinking stops replace color cartridge. If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color. If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept this "particular" solution.

There is a message in my printer 49.3048 can you

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.

Administrator required to connect

It sounds like our PC is setup to require an administrator password for any installs. If your PC is in a corporate environment then you will need to contact your IT support to resolve this. If it is home use, then you will need to log in as administrator, with your password.

I have hp deskjet 5550

Hi, This could be Low-Ink or paper Jam. Try turning off The printer, Unplug from The Mains Electric, for 3-5 Minutes. Turn back On, if Lights Are Still There. Check The Ink-Levels. And Replace Cartridges, if necessary.
