HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Have hp deskjet 5550 printer.
Hi,
There could be conflict with the printer and the drivers you have installed. You have installed the pre-loaded ( In-OS ) drivers for the HP Printer
I have 2 possibly solutions for this issue
1. Right click on the printer icon and click troubleshoot
Continue with the Troubleshoot Wizard and try printing.
If this does not work
2. Click on start button
Right click on Computer
Left Click on Manage
From the window Click on Device Manager from left panel
Under device manager You will find Imaging device and below you will find Universal Serial bus controller
Click + sign on Universal Serial Bus control and locate the USB port assigned for HP Printer
Right click on the Printer name assigned on port and Click Uninstall Drivers
The drivers will be uninstalled
To install the drivers back, Disconnect the USB Cable from PC or Printer and plug back. It will start installing the drivers
This should be helpful to you.
MY LASER PRINTER KEEPS PRINTING WING DINGS
You need to go into the document or driver and select a new font.
Normally, this is a driver issue because the driver will control what fonts are selected on the hardware.
Sometimes, however, the printer's default font has been changed. This will cause the same problem. Check the printer properties and make sure you have the correct font selected.
Not start
Reintal print the dvd if you have the dvd driver so you can download it at dell.com
I have lost my hp
Don't worry, hp have an excellent support website.....just go to www.hp.com/support and type in your model number. You'll find a heap of goodies to help solve your problem.

The printer does not turn on even if I press
check your power source for plugged into wall. your power block can have a broken wire usaully at the transformer end. If you can check the voltage output u could know for sure. its not easy to access the pins without shorting them out. some printer run at up to 24v so be carefull or have a qualified person do it.
Can't find ink levels on my printer
I just had this same problem on my Deskjet 5550 printer. The orange light (ink indicator) was staying on. I found out that all you need to do is just open the front cover to the printer. If your printer is running out of ink, the print cradle will move to either the far left or far right side. If it moves to the far left side, the BLACK cartridge is low or empty and should be replaced. If the print cradle stays on the far right side, the COLOR cartridge should be replaced. Normally, when you open the front cover, the print cradle should move to the center. Hope this helps!
Trying to set up my
Hello,
this is not possible. without the CD, you cannot setup the printer.
The good news is that you can download and install the driver/software of your printer without the CD from the below link. Once the link opens, select your operating system (Win xp/vista/7) and proceed from the download.

I wish you good luck.
Doesn't print - carriage makes a clicking noise
To confirm once again remove off the printer, reinstall the software, then connect the printer to be installed once again.
Now repeat the test print on the printer, if there is no response, check for the motor mechanism for jamming. Also see that the ink cartridge is moving well if not release any jamming possible from any objects.
If there is not response even after this the servo controller/ processor of the printer is faulty.
Possible error in the main board
HP5550 printer is printing everything in green.
So, your "blue" and "yellow" ink-cartridges are OK, and are mixing to produce "green".
But, either your "red" ink-cartridge is empty, or the ink-jets that shoot that colour onto the paper are BLOCKED.
Run a print-head-cleaning-cycle, using the HP Support Tools that were installed from the HP CD-ROM, and then, if necessary, replace/refill the "red" cartridge.
I was given an HP deskjet 5550 printer w/o the
Hi
I'm including a link to HP so you can download the Reference Guide and Owner's manual for your new printer. It should tell you everything you need to know.
In the meantime,go to Control Panel,Printers and right click on your printer. In the list of options that comes up, look for maintenance or preferences. If maint. is there, you want to run the cleaning utility,if not,go into prefs. and see if maint. is 1 of the tabs that you can select. The cleaning utility will be in there.
If neither of those come up in the options, click properties and it will be in there.
I'm being really general because I don't know what OS you're using. But that's the usual cleaning process for most printers.
Good or bad, please rate my post?
Thanks
Bob

HP5550 INKJET PRINTER NEEDS INK CHANGE AND DEVICE
Just open the top of the printer and manually grab the device and move it to the center. Then take out the ink and place the new ink in. Remember to take the protective strip off the new ink.
Hope this helps, give me thumbs up please.
We changed computers and cannot get the printer to
You will need to find the printer drivers for that printer specific for the operating system in your new computer. The best place to do that is on HP's website. If you go to www.hp .com click on support or drivers and put in any information it asks for. If you just purchased a new computer it is probably running windows 7. Verify that that is the case and look for drivers for your printer that support windows 7.
PUT NEW INK CARTRIGES AND THE LIGHT STILL BLINKS
You didn't say whether these new cartridges were HP original or knockoffs or remanufactured units. If they are HP original then that suggests a bigger problem. If they are the other types then try taking one out at a time with printer on. Then shut it off with only the one in its cradle. Then turn it back on...if the light goes out then the one you removed is most likely defective. If the light is still blinking then switch the cartridges and see if that turns out the light doing the procedure above. You should have either the 56 or the 57 not both in their respective cradles. If the light doesn't go out then you might try cleaning the electrical contacts in the printer with a cue tip and 91% alcohol or distilled water....just make sure the contacts get dry before retrying any of the above. If these are NEW (in warranty) HP cartridges then you can send back but try them one at a time to see if just one of them is defective. HP also has email support on their website and you might try calling their tech support but don't expect a lot of help...this is an old printer.
hope this helps.
