If your tablet charger is USB, try to plug it in to your computer. If it is not, try using Google Drive

Forgot password

There's a couple things you can do first try this:

1. This one works for some windows computers

Restart your computer and enter safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly while the computer is starting. Once prompted hit safe mode on your screen. Once inside go to Control Panel > User Accounts > and change the password on your account or remove it.

2. This one is if all else fails

If #1 doesn't work you can use this company - www.loginrecovery.com
First download their software off the website and burn it onto a CD using Nero or another CD burning program. They have detailed instructions on the website as well as some free CD burning programs for download. Next Restart the PC and boot to the CD Drive. Next transcribe all the letters and numbers that appear on the screen to a piece of paper. Lastly enter the numbers and letters into the box on their website where you are prompted and they will tell you if the password is hackable. You can choose between free service which is 72 hours or expedited service which is $30 and 10 minutes. I've used them in the past and they work wonders for me!

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND IS THE MESSAGE. HOW DO

This is usually indicative of your hard drive failing or the connection has come adrift.

The operating system, is usually windows, normally loaded on a pc when purchased. If you've purchased second hand, one of the usual practices is to remove the hard drive (and operating system) to protect personal data.

If there is a hard drive in place, you can buy a copy of windows, a friend may lend you a copy, but you will also need a code of authority (6 groups of 5 characters)to install it properly.

Alternatively you can get or download a "Linux" based operating system such as Ubuntu for free.

Battery won't charge

Find a computer/electronics tech to solder the leads to the jack back on. I had to do that too. You just need to be careful if you, or they take it apart b/c the cable and leads are very delicate. I got it working and thought I missed something only to rip the video card out and need to buy a new motherboard on ebay, which is another idea for ya.

I need to reset the bios on my Compaq TC1000. I

To flash the BIOS you need to download the BIOS from a link which HP provides.. so contact them and tell them to provide you with the BIOS link..
You need to download the BIOS and install it..
However after removing the RTC battery I would suggest you to hold the notebook power button for 20 secs..
This should remove all the residua power..
I think it will remove the BIOS password...
If it does not work then you could flash the BIOS..
What sayy???

My hp tablet won't move

Hi,

Did you install any software recently? If yes then what type, name etc. Restart and start pressing F8 key on the keyboard to reach the advanced start-up. Enter into safe mode and remove any newly installed software and try again.

Note: If Windows load then you have missed the Advanced start-up scree, try again.

Please let me know how it went and if you are able to load into Safe Mode, first thing to do is back-up your data in case you may need to restore.

Black screen 3 beeps when i turn it on

Firstly, many of your components are highly sensitive to static shock (the poke you get from touching certain things), so take care to avoid exposing computer's components to this.Try changing your RAM\Memory. Or just remove one stick and then try turning it on. If it works, then the stick you removed is causing the problem. If it still doesn't work right after removing one stick, then take out the other stick of RAM and put back in the one you took out to begin with. If you get it to start, then most likely the stick that you have removed is the cause of the problem. Try putting the sticks in different slots (one at a time) as well. Sometimes the slots go bad but not the memory. If you tested the RAM and the slots as described above and it still won't come on, then you may have some more severe problems that may require you to have the motherboard replaced in order for it to work right. Such as, the video chip is malfunctioning (this is affixed to the board and not easy to replace, the chipset is burned out (again, affixed to the motherboard), & etc. Please leave feedback about this solution. Thank you!

Operating system,xp tablet edtion

I know it might not be...moral...but there are OEM ISO versions of XP Tablet Edition out there on bitorrent sites. Now I DO NOT CONDONE downloading one and using the Key supplied in the torrent, I simply am telling you a method to get your hands on an OEM Restore Disc from HP.

Your COA is located under your battery on your tablet. Use that COA in conjunction with the downloaded ISO to remain 100% legal.

Monitor

If your LCD monitor has damage it could be in three forrmats:

1) Damage LCD ribbon. The screen will power up bright white and you will see random strings of color in diaganol or horizontal streaking slowly across your screen.

2) Damaged Liquid Crystal Container. The thin glass/plastic may have ruptured due to an impact on the screen. You will see sharp jagged lines and maybe a partial post screen, but where the sharp "jaggies" are, are now permantly broken

3) Nothing on screen. This indicates that your internal CCFL (oh I love LED technology) tubes have now lived their life and will not ignite. To test this method, hold a very bright light to the screen and see if you can see any logos (Compaq/HP/Win Xp loading screen...etc)

If you can see something, your screen is fine, but there is no light behind it for you to see.

Hope this helps.

Compaq PC Tablet 1000

I do not know if this will help your situation any or not. I just posted this in another thread. I purchased a used TC1000 for $35 (I just couldn't help myself, despite what the owner stated was happening).

It would power on, but no Compaq POST.

Toshiba taught me a simple trick when I was having issues with my X205 gaming laptop. Basically, remove all power sources (including battery). Hold the power slider to the on position for 25 - 30 seconds. Then power back up. You have to discharge whatever electricity is in the board/ps otherwise I believe the MoBo senses additional charge/not enough charge and refuses to boot.

I did this and have had 25 successful boots in a row.

COMPAQ TC1000 TABET FORGOT PASSWORD

TC1000 Password Clearing Procedure
1. Discharge any static electricity you may be carrying, it can burn up your mainboard and it doesn't take much! Remove the battery pack and place it out of immediate reach. you will be tempted to snap it back in later before it should be and this will spoil the work. Read everything before you start so you will understand. Remove the mini PCI communications/ memory expansion slot cover (2 small phillips screws, stick them to a piece of tape. When you reinstall them later, start by turning backwards till you hear and feel the threads mesh, then tighten slowly ... you don't want to strip out the threads on your frame! "Lefty loosey, righty tighty")
2. Remove the RTC battery “Real Time Clock (RTC) Battery” This is the black coated nickel sized battery tucked under the frame edge a little. You may have to remove the RAM if you have the extra slot filled to have enough room to work the RTC battery out. to remove the RAM chip pull the spring arms gently away from both sides at once and it will pop up at a 45 degree angle. pull it straight out. to reinstall it later put it back in at an angle, push it gently in then down to let the arms snap onto it and hold it in place. only goes in 1 way, note the notch. Use a toothpick to lift the black plastic film from the edge of the chip as it always tries to get in the way on reinstall. Have some patience or let someone else do it. DO NOT use any metal tools and be sure to remain static free!
Break or cut a short piece off your toothpick to make it easier to use the squared end to push and work the connector of the RTC battery plug off it's attachment. You may be able to unplug the RTC battery without removing it, your call. It connects at the white connector thats located next to the frame rail that separates the battery compartment from the mini PCI communications/ memory expansion bay. It is between (above) the battery release switch and the thumb lift depression to lift out the battery. Now, hold the power switch in the on position for 30 or 40 seconds to discharge any static. This is a good and recommended practice every once in awhile when batt is out and AC is not connected.
moz-screenshot-3.jpg3. Wait approximately five minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery (or reconnect it)and reassemble the tablet PC except for the main battery, do not install it yet! Remember the toothpick will help you get the plastic film lifted clear of the RAM chip, work it into place at a 45 deg angle and then gently press it down till it locks. DO NOT STRIP out your cover screws, or try to get them super tight. They will strip out your frame, finger snug is enough.

Do not reinsert the battery pack at this time! Thats why you can't reach it!

5. Connect AC power to the tablet PC.
6. Turn on the tablet PC.
All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.
7. Now you can reinstall the main Batt!
Good luck!
