Miele W1213 intake, drain and 3 - - - faults

Have had this since 2007 or 2008. Pain in the backside. Fixed it by: Cleaning drain. Unplugging from power. Tilting forward to drain water for 1-2 mins. Made sure that the clear plastic light ***** in the rubber opening which located at the top was tight as it tends to get loose if you have an off-balance load. Plugged power back in. Boom, she started up. This is a great washer/dryer, but it's expensive to fix if you need a repairman and it's a bit of voodoo if you need to do the above. HTH

While spinning, it made a loud noise but finished washing the load while continuing to make the noise especially while spinning fast.

Hi Chantal, In my many years repairing Miele machines - the most common problem for what you are describing is the underwire from a bra has got in between the inner and outer drum. It's tricky to get out and can be done if you are good with tools and a little technical - but it does involve opening up the machine, removing one of the heating ellements and searching / fishing it out. Another less common reason for this rubbing noise could be the metal heater element bracket that also sits between the inner & outer drum, has bent - but this is normally caused by a bra underwire. Hope this helps.

Large miele washer leaves clothes with bad smell.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Bad odours could be coming from a few places.
  1. the plumbing u-bend or
  2. the fact that there is 'foul' water being left in the drum.
  3. No washes at 90 degree+ !
I would suggest checking the plumbing u-bend for trouble first, then following the notes on checking and cleaning the drain filter and the drain pump to ensure there is nothing 'obnoxious' hanging around the two of them! Finally run the occasional 90+ wash to kill bacteria.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

Hi - I believe the problem will be with the actual drain pump, the seals have seen better days, unfortunately the manufacturers do not suply seal kits.

You will have to get the pump replaced - what you have done is open the pump housing from the front, useful, thats how you unblock the pump as its fixed in the very back of that drain system.

Miele Touchtronic W1213 Front Load

hi - If I remember correctly this particular series had a time related sequence built into the programme, whats happening is the timer has picked up the false readings when the pressure activates the switch.

Suggestions to look into - leave power off & turn water back on - does water run into the machine (faulty valve); turn power on initiate a cycle water runs, then turn power off - is water still running? (faulty valve)

From experiences on the field, theres a slim chance that the pressure tube has a hole in it from the vibrations over time. This effect will not create enough pressure in the tube to activate the pressure switch, the only other problem would be the pressure switch itself.

Miele

Clean the drain by opening the door on the bottum left.
Use the yellow plastic thingy in the front of the soap drawer to do it.

You can open the machine door by pulling the yellow tag in the bottom door.
Drain the water through the filter, clean the filter and close.

Then unplug the machine and tilt it forward by about 1 foot until you see water coming out of the bottom (put towel on floor).

Plug back in and voila!

I do think that this machine is a major pain. No spin cycle and this kind of stuff to go through. Anyone want to buy mine?

Hello, i'm facing the following

Hi vianney_dupa,

Your water path control unit is not registered by the PC Board. This is the Pressure switch / Water Level Switch. I'd kindly suggest you get a qualified technician to come and check your machine. If not well diagnosed it may lead to further damaging the machine.

Sorry, no quick fix here - This is were Miele machines get complicated O.o..

No need to vote my answer, I'll understand.

The machine stopped mid-cycle. the drain and

Hi

This is caused either due to blocked drain hose or drain pump or due to faulty water inlet valve. Unplug the washer, use a multimeter and check the continuity of the water inlet valves, if continuity is present make sure the inlet screens are clear. Make sure that the drain pump is not faulty, disassemble the washer and disconnect the drain hose connected to the pump. After disconnecting there would be a lot of water, collect the water and inspect if something is stuck inside the pump. Clear the drain hose as well.
Hope tis helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Will not open child lock light comes on

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(try this!)
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

Please score this solution accordingly.
