How do i remove front panel on meile washing machine w404 plus to rnew door seal
Hi, It would appear that there is alot of miss leading information written here.
Anyway here goes:
Firstly isolate power, It will be easier to view internal workings if the top panel is removed first (remove the cover clips on the side of the top panel to gain access to retaining torx screws) then slide panel backwards to then lift off.
Next..There is a torx fixing screw just just behind the suds draw which needs removing, remove suds drawer completely (press release mechanism) undo screw and keep safe.
The next job is slightly more tricky, pull of control knob carefully, you will then need to remove the facia panel to access the screws behind (facia panel with machine washing details) for this you'll need to use 2 x small stiff pointed implements a couple of stiff sharp pointed kitchen knives will do.
Now this is the tricky bit, locate the points of the knives on the very top edge of the facia panel, gently and firmly push the panel downwards being very careful that you don't slip as you may damage the panel or cut yourself. The panel will slightly move down as it rests on 2 x wire spring clips, your need to prise the panel towards you as you depress this will then allow the facia panel to be removed. Be careful not to loose the spring clips taking note of there position.
Now that bits out of the way the rest is plain sailing.
Remove the 2 x torx screws behind the facia panel located at each end undo and keep safe, carefully remove this electronic panel it will not completely drop out due to the wire connections that's not a problem as you don't need to remove it completely you just need to access a further 2 x torx screws behind this by moving it to either side carefully.
Once you've removed the plastic housing torx screws you can prise out the plastic surround housing casing carefully.
You will now see 2 x torx screws sitting on top of the main front panel these will need removing with the right hand one being a little awkward to access due to the plastic housing dangling in the way.
Next open the front chrome loading door (use the pull cord located behind the filter access door) remove the 2 x torx screws which hold the door locking mechanism (don't worry the mechanism won't fall down behind the front panel when the screws are removed) keep safe.
Next is to remove the lower kick strip at the bottom if the front panel to access fixings screws. You'll need to gently but firmly tug the plastic panel towards you gripping at each end. Once removed undo the 2 x torx screws on the very outer edge the others will not need to be removed.
Lastly going back to the door opening to remove the bolt underneath the rubber seal using a 10mm spanner undo remove and keep safe. Care at this point will be needed as the front panel will only be held on by the door opening grey rubber seal.
obviously if you wish to remove the rubber seal this will then totally disengage the front panel from the machine.
refitting is the reversal of dismantling.
i hope this helps others as I had nothing to work to as there was no information on the net of youtube.
if I've missed any parts out appologies as I'm doing this from memory.
Is it possible to change an ecu on a Miele washing machine
Most machines are accessed through the top panel. ISOLATE the machine. On the back of the machine will be a couple of screws. Undo these and the top panel should slide off exposing the works. Removing the ecu is easier on some machines than others but it may require you to dismantle the front panel as well to get to some screws. Most of the harness plugs will only fit one way but a couple of phone pictures would help. If the machine is several years old the price of an ecu may outway the cost of a new machine? Unless you get lucky on ebay etc.
