What setting do I putmy pump on to vacuum sand out of my pool. I have the sandman 22"?

I'm not familiar with that particular brand, but if you want to get sand out of your pool you should first make sure you're ready to vacuum (with the plate firmly in the skimmer box and connected to your hose and then to your pole with the vacuum head), then turn the multi-port valve (MPV) to 'waste'. If your equipment is below the water line then water may start to come out your waste line - not a drama. Next, just turn the pump on and you will be vacuuming sand straight through the pump and out to wherever your waste line goes. Be careful to ensure that you don't let the waterline in the pool get below the level of the skimmer box, because if you start to suck air you increase the likelihood of damaging your pump. A good idea is to top up the pool as much as you can with a hose before you start vacuuming, and then top it up again as necessary as your going along. If you do need to top up the pool, be sure to get your water tested as soon as you can afterward, then top it up with whatever chemicals you may need.

Words have worn off the dial on the pump

These may vary somewhat. Google your filter model and search images. There should be some good pictures of the valve to compare with.

Have a sandman filter and having problems with dirt piles in pool. I brush and sweep vacum nothing is helping. Pump runs good water is clear as a bell. Please tell me what I can do to get rid of thes

Sounds to me that if the piles are right off of the return that one or more of the filter laterals has failed and needs to be replaced. Another possible problem is that its time to change the sand in it especially if it is 4 to 5 years old. At that age the contamiiate level is very high increasing volume in the filter.

I have a Sandman Sand filter and water is clear but have what looks like dirt piles in pool. I brush and vacum to no end and still have these dirt piles. I need to know what to do about this please he

Have you back flushed your filter? That will help in the cleaning ability of it, you will lose some water because you are flushing out the nasty stuff to the outside of the pool and filter. Try that and see if its better

Filter has clean hoses and new sand, but water return is still low. valve cover has debris in non-removable housing.

Does not sound like a product failure. But more info would help so I'm making some assumptions. Double check the hose connections going into the filter are in the proper location. The hose from the pump will plug into the highest port and the return to the pool will be the lower port that does not have the sight glass. Make sure you are only vac'ing on the "filter" or "waste" setting. Never vacuum your pool on "backwash". If this is not your problem then look to the pump for an impeller blockage. Lining the pump basket with a nylon stocking will keep debris like cottonwood from making it through the basket and clogging impellers and filters.

My pool filter wont stop backwashing it is in filter cycle it wont stop even when i shut the pump off it still drains

Underneath your backwash valve handle is a gasket that looks like a wagon wheel. This has worn out and needs to be replaced. Your pool store may have one or you may have to get one from the manufacturer.

My Maax 461 Spa Heater heats constant until overheat and trips out until manually reset. If jets not turned on, the heater will overheat and trip. Acts like contacts stuck?

Question edited for clarity, 'till' refers to turning over soil, 'tilling', 'until' is the word you need. That sounds like a thermostat problem. The heater should only be on when water is circulating, even if it is just in the standby mode before the high pressure jets are turned on. Contact your installer or one of the parts suppliers in the link. It is unlikely to need a new mainboard. https://www.google.com/search?q=Maax+461+Heater ..
