The check drain and check

I have a Miele W502.Both lights flashing usually is caused by a water leak into the case of the machine which trips the float switch in the base. You can reset this by tipping the machine forwards at 45 degrees and allowing the water to drain out on to the floor. It will reset everything but if you still have a leak it will trip ou again due to the float switch. I had the same problem with the 2 red lights flashing, which was fixed by emptying the float tray as above. On further investigation I found that the door seal had rubbed on itself at the 6 o'clock position and had worn a small hole which was causing the water leak.To replace or repair the Door Seal you will need to remove the front panel.1. Turn power off and unplug machine after opening door.2. Remove the front panel lower kick plate by inserting a thin ruler between the kick plate and front panel about 4 inches from each end and lever down until it releases.3. Remove the 2 screws at the door lock switch on the front panel.4. With the kick plate removed you will see 2 screws at each lower edge of the front panel, remove these 4 screws.5. Remove the spring loaded band from around the edge of the door seal facing you and after that release the seal from the front panel and push in.6. Remove the hex bolt from the 6 o'clock position just below the door seal on the front panel.7. You should now be able to lower the front panel out of the locating pins and remove it.8. With front panel removed you will be able to remove the tensioning band which holds the door seal in place around the drum by undoing the screw at the right hand side of the band at the 3 o'clock position. It is accessible from above with a long bladed screwdriver. Take note of how far it is tensioned on the thread of the screw and try not to undo it all the way or you may lose the nut on the band.9. Once you have removed the band, slip the seal off the drum and slide the water outlet to the seal from the dispenser.10. When you replace the seal do not do the tensioning band up too tightly or you will hear it squeak when you spin the drum in either direction.11.Reassembly is the reverse of removal, taking care to put the door manual release strap through the inner slot in the front panel.I repaired my door seal with Silicone Sealant and loose weave fabric tape after rubbing it clean with alcohol as i didn't want to pay $100 for a new seal from Miele.3_13_2013_1_40_54_am.jpg

Check inlet light flashing and machine will not

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,

Poor quality wash from miele

Hi

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Waterproof system activated. close stopcock. The

Hi, it's caused by a leak of water into the tray at the bottom, which activates a sensor to shut the water in flow off and thus prevent a flood. The fix is as for a posting by halldor to a question about the w4146 - ie. Turn off and unplug, drain by the filter plug, lean the machine forward - the water flows out the bottom, plug in and it should work. You do need to establish the cause of the leak first. Mine was a draw cord on some trousers dangling out of the door, thus preventing a proper seal, the water dribbled down the front and into the tray. Miele stated it could only be fixed by their service mechanics

Miele w2240 check drain and check inlet lights

There is water at the bottom of the machine. You could tilt the machine forward until the water dumps out and then the lights will go away. The cause of the problem could be the following: 1. There is a hole in the seal. 2. A hole in one of the hoses inside the machine. 3. Too much soap (the most common), the suds come out of the door and enter into the bottom.
Hope this works for you. Please leave a feedback.

It smells stagnant,opened the flap

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @ 17:48 Sunday afternoon.

Sorry but I do not know your specific machine but most are very similar!
I will have to assume that the flap to which you refer has the filter behind it because you say- 'opened the flap on the front and smelly water came out'. You should be able to pull the filter out of its 'container' even if it takes some gentle persuasion and patience!.
Also are you absolutely sure that it IS the water itself smelling? If your washer water drain pipe shares a sink's plumbing, it could be that the smell is coming from the sink's u-tube and through the empty pipework. I have had a few problem tickets like that! Plus- normally waste washing water a) smells of the washing powder and /or conditioner and b) would be mostly flushed away.
This is not to say that it isn't the filter with something fairly obnoxious stuck in it!
Good luck,

John C

hi,

you can purchase a cleaning product to run through the machine but white vinegar on a 95c wash also works.don't put any clothes in it though. if it has eaten into the door seal too much you can easily have them replaced. always leave the door open after each wash for about half an hour to let it dry out otherwise a damp environment is perfect for bacteria to develop. lots of hot washes and the door open prevents this.

Timer Jumps

Hi. The time displayed at the start of the program is an estimated time to complete the cycle. The appliance will calculate the wash time base on load size, water pressure, water temp ect. If a smaller load is to be washed then less water will be required thus shortening the time required to fill and heat water as a result this will reduce the wash time. EG. The more water you put in your kettle the longer it takes to boil.

Miele washing machine wont drain

hi friend,
If your washer won't drain, check these:

It spins, but doesn't pump
It doesn't spin or pump
It pumps, but the water returns
It spins, but doesn't pump
If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many
washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub
that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's
attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the
hoses
from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the
large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using
needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator,
top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might
be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be
turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably
has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the
pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen
or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns
If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your
washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the
washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck
in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

* If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

* If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.
