Two things come to mind for this problem. First try pushing down firmly on both ends of the black rubber platen roller. Sometimes the black plastic latch on either side may break causing one side of the roller to lift up causing partial print. The other possibility is the ribbon is not lifting correctly. A technician can adjust the ribbon lift. After typing a few letters, take the ribbon out and look at the letters on the ribbon.Are they in the middle of the ribbon or are they at the top or bottom of the ribbon? middle of ribbon is correct.

I didn't know of anyone using one of these yet. I would say it is probably dirt, like dust in the drive gear or if it has a belt a loose belt could be causing the problem. A good cleaning with compressed air like the ones used on computers may solve your problem. Hope this helps you. Viking.

The typewriter will type thru the right margin it simply beeps when you get near it

MIght be time for a new one, sometimes the instros help:

remove and carefully wipe with alcohol and a soft cloth if that does not work use a wooden toothpick gently

There is a key on the far left of the keyboard labeled reprint, this may be what you are looking for. DickyO

If you do not have your instruction book, go to lexmark site and search for it, can usually download a copy, so you will allways have a reference.

If you mean the flat wire connector it is probably damaged or not properly connected. you need a tech. I'm sure we can repair it we are in Cleveland. Ohio. DickyO 216-269-3918

You may have a non correctable ribbon or the correction tape is old, Try a fresh ribbon and L/O tape. DickyO
