Magic Chef 7 cu. ft. / 198 liter Chest Freezer CFC0735GRW Questions & Answers
How can I replace the seal for the lid?
no need to replace unless damaged. You should be able to pull the seal off the door and place it in the dishwasher or use the solution described below in a sink to clean it. If removal is impracticable then the recommended cleaner (on the door) is a spoonful of regular dish washing liquid + 1/4 C of Lysol (the real stuff- brown smells horrible) and a quart of very warn water....add to this about 1/8 C of household bleach..clean with a sponge/ rag and rinse. This will clean and totally disinfect the door/ seal. Also, remember that unless you have a true allergy to mold there is no proof that it will harm you, its around us every day. Ever taken a walk in the woods at daybreak or sunset- look at the specs flying around- they're mold at max!
Magic Chef #HMCF7W1 should the green light go off?
same as last post... I not 100% sure but believe this is the power light so it should remain on when the freezer calls for cooling and go off when satisfied. If the chest wont stay cold then it sounds like the stat is gone. If it is digital, there may be a power card issue but most chest freezers are run on a standard thermostat with the capillary running up into the base of the unit.

I have a Magic Chef
Use rubber gloves and wipe the seal with a cloth soaked in a diluted bleach solution (20 parts water to 1 part bleach). Let the seal dry. Chest freezers don't lose much of their cool when open so you won't have to worry about losing the food while you are working on it. Close the freezer and let it sit for 30 minutes then repeat the above steps until the mold is gone.
