How do I play MPEG recordings?
Using Windows Media Player
You need Microsoft Windows Media Player Version 9 or higher and Sharp G.726 Audio Codec in order to play MPEG4 files from the Memory Stick on your PC.
If you are not currently using Microsoft Windows Media Player Version 9 or higher.
Important: The Sharp G.726 Audio Codec needed to play MPEG4 files is no longer signed by Microsoft.
If Sharp G.726 Audio Codec is not properly installed on your PC, it will not play MPEG4 Audio.
Using DivX®
You can also download a free DivX® Player and codec to play your MPEG and other video format files.
DivX® for Windows is a free codec built to play every version of DivX content. The DivX codec also plugs into your existing video software so you can view and create high-quality DivX videos at a fraction of the original size. The DivX codec also adds DivX video playback support to most popular media players.

My camera shows a blue screen when I record
CCD sensor is faulty. Must be replaced and your agent should do this free of charge. If you have to pay for this repair then expect to pay +- 30% of the price of a new camera . But the repair is very effective and you should get couple of years out of your camera afterwards.
No image on lcd for Panasonic nv-gs50 camcoder
It was my question and I have found an answer. The problem was,due to faulty main PCB,which did not supply power to LCD backlight. I was lucky enough to find same faulty model on eBay,sold for spares (around $15 for the lot).I have also purchased a service manual for $10,just to see,how to disassemble a unit.It was pretty easy, not a rocket science.Any new replacement part usually very expensive, not saing about repair in repair shop. Will cost fortune. My advice: try to find similar not working unit on ebay, just figure out what was wrong,as there is no point to get unit with the same fault. The camera I have bought for parts had a mechanical problem, chewing tape.

Can I use Firewire to transfer video?
Your computer must be equipped with an IEEE 1394 (Firewire) interface and video capture software. Provided you have both of these, follow the directions below.
To connect your digital camcorder to your computer using IEEE1394, follow these steps:
1. Connect the IEEE 1394 interface on your camcorder to the IEEE 1394 interface on your computer.
2. Turn on your computer.
3. Turn on your camcorder.
4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
Image capture should begin provided the computer hardware and software are configured correctly. If image capture does not begin, you must consult the computer or capture card manufacturer for assistance.
Note: If you don't have an IEEE 1394 interface on your computer, you can buy an IEEE 1394 pci card at your local computer store that will work with most current computers.
Sound Problem
Be sure you are not playing back in "camera mode". If this is the case, change the power switch to "play mode" and resume playback. This should solve the problem.
Some models have a Speaker On/Off function in the menu as well. Consult the User Manual for more information.
