My camcorder doesn't work
For Models: CC4252, CC4352, CC4362, CC4392, CC4393
You need to reset your camcorder. Follow these steps:
* Remove the power source.
* After one minute, gently press the RESET button with a nonmetallic pointed item until you feel a "click." This resets the camcorder to the factory settings and erases the date, time, and custom settings.
* Wait for at least one minute after resetting the camcorder to attach a power supply.
Can't access all the menus...
Some RCA camcorders feature both Automatic and Manual recording modes.
Some features on these camcorders are only available in Manual mode. Check to make sure the POWER switch is set to M, and not A, then try again.
If you are unsure of the recording model features of your camcorder, refer to the owner's manual or the product catalog on the website. Look on the bottom of your camcorder to locate the model number.
HELP--I can't get my camcorder to interface with my computer
Some just will never work. but try this.
1. Install the MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS for your machine.
2. Try VIRTUAL DUB. Hint: Free, found with google.com
3. See if Windows Movie Maker is still available. Hint: I never use it, so I can't tell you much about it.
Can't read the date/time
There may be a simple explanation. Here are two possible reasons this is happening:
* You may have disconnected the power source before turning off the power to your camcorder. If you remove the power source from the camcorder while the power is on, all settings and selections will be erased. Make sure to turn the camcorder's power off before disconnecting the power source.
* This is particularly an issue for some early VHS-C camcorders – those with model numbers beginning with a "6" and ending with a "2" or "3" (i.e. CC6xx2 … CC6xx3). These camcorders have a consumer-replaceable clock battery that may be exhausted. If that battery runs dead or is removed and the main battery or AC is not connected, the camcorder will lose all its Date and Time settings.
* In some models, the date and time display is designed to do this.
When you turn on many VHS-C and digital camcorders, the Auto Date mode will display the time and date. When recording begins, the date is recorded on the tape for 5 seconds and then disappears. In the viewfinder, the date will then be replaced with the words AUTO DATE but they will not be recorded. They remain in your viewfinder so that you know this feature is on.
On full-size or VHS camcorders, the Auto Date feature is very similar. When you first turn on the camcorder, the date along with the word AUTO and a Clock icon appear in the viewfinder. When recording begins, the date is automatically recorded for 10 seconds and then disappears. In the viewfinder, the Clock icon and the word AUTO remain but they will not be recorded. They remain so that you are aware that this feature is on.
When using the Auto Date feature, be aware that the time is only recorded when you first turn on the camcorder and begin a recording session. It does not record each time you press the record button.
There are a number of time and date display and recording options. Since these vary by model number, please refer to your owner’s manual for more details.
Can't operate the software

Watching tapes on TV
To connect your camcorder to a TV (or VCR), you'll need audio/video cables. These need to be run from the VIDEO and AUDIO jacks on the camcorder to the VIDEO and AUDIO inputs on the TV (or VCR).
Once cabling is completed, follow either of these scenarios:
When connecting the camcorder directly to the TV, turn on the TV and tune it to the video input channel by pressing the INPUT button on your remote control.
# When connecting the camcorder to a VCR that is already connected to a TV: Turn on the VCR and place it in the Line or Camera mode.
# Operate the TV as you normally do to see the signal coming from the VCR.
Select camcorders have an S-VIDEO jack, which offers higher video quality. Provided your TV or VCR has an S-VIDEO input jack, connect the camcorder to the TV or VCR using an S-VIDEO cable. Since the S-VIDEO cable only transfers video, you will also need to use an audio cable. Select the S-VIDEO input on your TV or VCR to view the signal coming from the camcorder.
Can't charge the battery
# New batteries need to be drained by using the camcorder until the viewfinder indicates the battery is empty. Follow these steps: Once the battery has been drained, you may use the charger to recharge the battery.
# Consult your manual for the amount of time the battery requires on the charger to get a full charge.
# A full charge will be delivered by the charger.
# Some camcorders have a Refresh feature, which will automatically drain the initial charge on the battery. This allows the battery to fully recharge.

The tape may also stop because it has reached the beginning or end of the tape, depending of course on whether you are fast-forwarding or rewinding.
Playback quality problem
A couple of things could be causing the problem.
When recording, your movements with the camera could have been too quick or jerky. Try putting the camera on a flat surface or on the tripod and record for 30 seconds.
If the playback picture is still bad, then it's possible that the video heads are dirty or worn out. Consult your nearest RCA authorized service center for head cleaning or replacement.

Gently wipe any glass surface on your camcorder with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe the LCD monitor in a semicircle to avoid spreading a stain. Check the edges of the lens for loose particles.
Caution: Do not touch the lens with your fingers. The oil from your skin can damage the lens.
