Windows 10 does not recognize camcorder. Have tried fire wire and downloading driver to no avail.

1st chk the device manager to see if there r any yellow warnings !!!! if so there may be info to help resolve that. If there r none, then W10 never talked to the camcorder when it was plugged in so I would suspect a problem with the CC or cable - assuming other devices work on that port. If there is an entry under other, then W10 talked to it but has no idea what it is. Usually a driver issue. If there is an entry under another category, then W10 talked to it and knows what it is but is having another issue, which probably is also a driver. u may have to get the VEN & PID IDs and google that to find a driver.

I have put a new cassette in my VL-Z5 camcorder and the display says "eject the cassette". My problem is that the cassette will not eject when the cover is opened. Battery is fully charged and I've also tried it with power supply connected?

Hi When I switch on cam, I am getting the text DEW

Sounds like condensation. This can cause the tape to stick and snarl, so the camera probably won't lace up until it drys out. If you leave it in a warm dry place for a few days it should clear up.

The camera wont stay on

Obviously excessive humidity inside the camcorder.

Follow whatever described in the manual.Or if you had already lost it,just let your camcorder in dry place for a couple of days. This should fix your problem.

Unable to start the camera

I had the same problem on a Sharp VL-Z3U
This was what worked for it & yours may very well be the same thing:
The solder joints to the DEW Sensor were "cold joints" which means that the solder joint is defective - is not a sound joint. This means that with temperature variation, the solder joint can intermittently separate and break the circuit, causing the DEW Indicator to come on and completely shut down the camera.
Here is a picture from the perspective of the tape cover being at the top of the picture and the rest of the camera at the bottom. The dew sensor will be on your left.

get a real slim soldering iron with a fine point. Open the tape cover and take the tape out. Get a strong light to shine down into the mechanism.

If your camera is like mine was, you may see a brownish material on or around the solder joint - this is flux used in soldering which was applied too heavily, and not heated long enough to burn off. The joint therefore doesn't quite connect the dew sensor to the terminal post - depending upon heat/cold ambient conditions, sometimes it makes contact and sometimes it doesn't .

Heat up the soldering iron - make certain the point is tinned (has a thin film of solder on it). Carefully just touch each solder joint for a couple of seconds - just enough for it to melt, and then quickly remove the soldering iron. You don't want to leave the iron in contact with the solder too long or it may melt other insulation around the terminal. This all probably sounds more complicated than it really is - but it really is just a 5 minute operation. If you've not done much soldering, and feel uncomfortable about trying it, you may want to take it to a radio, tv or computer repair shop and ask them to do it for you.

Replacement charger for Sharp Viewcam VL-Z3

As long as you can obtain a charger that is rated the same as the one for your camera it will not be a problem unless the original charger is a microprocessor controlled charger that has the ability to control and change the charging current as the battery charges.
A camera shop can check this out for you.
If it just a simple AC or DC charger, then you can simply use the connector from your original charger and join it either by soldering or with a screw terminal block(which you wrap in Insulating tape once fitted).
The main thing you need to be CERTAIN of is as to whether the original charger is an AC or a DC type.
This will be clearly indicated on the label on the charger.

Dont know why it is saying DEW

The DEW error is a known dry-joint manufacturing flaw on the camera's PCB. I solved my DEW problem by resoldering the electrical contacts on the dew sensor and my camera has been perfect since (was useless before). Soldering the sensor wires is quite tricky as you have to dismantle the camera to reach them but a decent hifi repair shop shoud be able to it for you. The dew sensor is in the lower right hand corner if you look inside the open tape compartment door.
