Sony Dvcam DSR-PDX10 DV Digital Camcorder Questions & Answers
I need to transfer footage
What is the exact problem that you encounter?
Is the camcorder detected/recognized by FCP7? If not, make sure you have the latest updates for FCP7 and for Quicktime... get them here and here (accordingly)!
I have a Sony PDX-10 and it's giving me two
Hello,
Looking at PDX 10 User Manual Page 232
Your description -
Under lined Triangle
Cassette Ejection needed
Slow Flashing: The Write protect tab exposed
Fast Flashing: Moisture Condensation
Cassette out of tape
Self diagnosis display function activated
Sounds like the diagnosis function maybe your best shot......
Check displayed error codes in viewfinder on Page 231 of the User Manual or let me know if you dont have copy of them.
Tape Symbol Flashing:
Tape near end
No cassette inserted
The write protect tab exposed.
I think this is basically telling you the loading mechanism has a problem, the viewfinder is displaying an error code indicating the nature of the fault..... IF error Code is : E61:........ or E62........ (dots indicate extra numbers) these MUST be referred to Sony Service Centre.
Hope this may help

I have a pdx10 and
Yes, you can. Your Windows machine just needs to have a mini-fire wire / or regular sized one like the pics below.
If you don't have a port on your computer you can purchase an add-on card for really cheap.
Basically you'll just need to open whatever editing software you plan on using to capture the video direct from the camera.
Hope this info helps!
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Repair lens PDX10
It sounds like the optics in the lens are no longer calibrated. It needs to be looked at by a professional.
Bad DV Out Port
There are settings like on pg 211 of your manual you might have to switch from analog out to DV out. I bet thats it. There are other options around pg 221 for USB output settings but I didn't see any conflict but it doesn't mean there won't be some.
Good Luck. Leave a comment if you need more info . Just in case here's where to get a copy of the manual:

Channel Two Input silent
Not sure of particular model, but if it's like z1 then it's convoluted and non-intuitive.
But here goes.. if i can remember.
Go into menu, then audio
check that the channels aren't linked
if set to manual check manual adjustment wheels
The z1 doesn't seem to allow on board mic and xlrs, so check that
Does mic need phantom power?
Is XLR input set to mic?
Sorry i can't be more model specific... but hopefully something of this will be helpfull.. the main thing to check tho is that the xlrs aren't linked
Microphone
For microphones with a 3.5 mm miniplug you can use a plug-in at the front of the camera. There is a little plastic cover over the hole under the word "MIC". I would call this an emergency solution because for most recording purposes you would want a microphone with XLR connectors.
This camcorder comes with an external shotgun condenser mic and XLR adaptor. If you have the operating instructions that come with the camera, you can turn to page 29 where there is a description of how to install the supplied external microphone.
When you slip the hot shoe plug of the XLR adaptor into the intelligent accessory shoe, the internal microphone is by-passed. In case you do not have the operating instructions you can download them from the Sony manual site.

Put briefly, Attach the XLR adaptor to the accessory shoe on the top front of the camcorder and tighten the screw of the adaptor. Connect the hot shoe plug of the SLR adaptor to the intelligent accessory shoe of the camcorder, located behind the adaptor screw. When you push the hot shoe plug into place you should hear a click. Sometimes you have to use a little strength to get it correctly seated.
I hope this helps.
Strange noise
Unusual noises that start after a mechanical device is dropped are never good regardless of the device. I would suspect that something is physically bent or out of alignment and continuing to use the camera risks additional damage.
As to if you should still use it that depends on how much its worth to you and if you plan on repairing it later.
