Monitor goes to sleep and won't wake up

You can google search for an app called NOSLEEP.EXE
It was written by a Symantec employee to keep your screen active regardless of pic settings.
Install and run it. That will verify the issue is with of or monitor

My monitor MAG lcd 16inch

In case you haven't done it already, please connect the monitor to the computer and turn everything on and let it boot up. While the screen is black, take a flashlight and carefully hold it against the screen. If you can see that the LCD portion of the screen is working, then continue reading. This model seems to have a number of complaints against it. That being said, many people seem to believe that caps become swollen just because that's what they do. In my experience, for multiple caps to swell or need replacing, it takes a long duration over-current event or a short duration death event. The most common long duration over-current event in a monitor is burned bulbs and/or burned transformer. The most common short duration death event being a power surge (blackouts, lightning, or connected to the same breaker as an air conditioner or microwave) If you have successfully replaced the caps, then you already show some technical prowess. Search your main board model number for some more info. If you can read the tiny part numbers on the transformer, search for a datasheet to find a way to test it with a meter. Bulbs are a bit harder to do. I've done it, but it is almost impossible to keep even a single speck of dust from entering the insides. If you get to the bulbs, and they are blackened on the ends, you can be fairly certain that they are burned and creating an over-amp condition in the driver circuits. Best of luck to you.

Setup Menu for MAG LT776 Model 780

I had a blank screen and went through the Setup tips here (in the blind) only to discover it was 3 bad caps on the PCB. I replaced them (tight fit) with more low-profile ones. They were swollen only, not burst or leaking. I put new 220uf 16V ones in, got my screen back.

I realized that it would be helpful if there were an image available for anyone troubleshooting, especially if not familiar with this model, or it's setup. I made the following image, maybe it will help someone in the future.

I see the image is resized for the forum, here is a link to a full size (700 x 850) viewing.

I just installed a MAG 17 incuh flatscreen monitor

I think that you have chosen some settings that are not compatible on it ..resolution too big and probably the refresh rate high ..
first from the monitor settings ..press the auto-settings button ..and let it make the proper choice ..after that ..to eliminate any settings in the video card that might affect it ..boot your computer in safe mode..and remove the video card driver from control panel ...add /remove programs ...and after that run it again from the disk or ..from teh support site if you do not have the disk ..
If you only have the on board driver..and you do not have a disk ..run it from the drivers of the motherboard disk ..This will reset the odd choices on the video card ..and make it work ..to open in safe mode..press F12 on start ..and choose safe mode..(for some computers the button is F9 or F8 )Usually the button is specified when it boots up ..
But ..for to be sure that this is the cause...you have to hear to computer running ..and only the display to be black ...otherwise can be a physical fault..

Hooking up to mu computer the monitor states no

Is the monitor set to the correct input source? Is the cable fully seated on both the computer and the monitor? Try a new cable. Is the computer sending the video signal to that port that has the cable? Laptops sometimes need the external video port enabled in the BIOS, for example. Check your manual to access the BIOS; frequently it is F1, F2 or ESC pressed before the OS starts to load. Some newer desktop computers do not have the VGA port enabled initially as well.

I hope this helps.

(on my Win7 desktop and laptop, to turn on a second monitor it is under Screen Resolution (shortcut from the desktop by right-clicking anywhere there isn't an icon or running program).)
