20 Most Recent Sony Handycam DCR-TRV140E Digital Camcorder Questions & Answers

Believe it or not, giving it a bash got it to work. Not too hard, just a few sharp smacks on the side.
It's something in the cassette carrier mechanism.

DCR TRV140E is a Digital8 camera
CCD TRV87E is a Hi8 camera,
(Hi8 is an analog format)
the tapes are the same size, wont help, the recording systems are not compatible
send them to a lab service ?maybe if there are only a few
or ebay a Hi8 camera and transcode them yourself

its not a solution, at least it clarifies the problem

Please make certain you have the right tape in the camera, you need Digital 8 tapes, I get my own from Argos, got a pack of 3 today, £17 per 3.

Their is a problem with a mechanism on the Sony as there is a plastic wheel that it does intend to break loos that plastic bit it drives the tape deck up and down, so the best solution is to replace the part or the whole tape deck if you can find that part it will help you out.
