Sony Handycam CCD-TRV40 Camcorder Questions & Answers
Moisture error code sony ccdtrv40
I've had this before. It usually occurs when go outdoors from an air conditioned space. Moisture condenses on the headwheel which will cause the tape to stick... and THAT will make a real mess! If you're in a hurry, remove the tape cassette leaving the camera open, and use a hairdryer on LOW to dry out the inside of the unit. Then allow the camcorder to cool down (not in the cool or air-conditioned room) before you use it. In the future, you should take the camera out of the cooled area still in the bag several hours before you intend to use it. To hurry things along a bit, you can put in a sealed plastic bag indoors and then bring it up to temperature, but don't open the bag until has reached the temperature of the space in which you will be using it.

If the memory card came with the camera, I would suggest checking the little metal sensors on the memory card to be sure they are flat and in good condition.
Also, be sure the memory card is being installed correctly. Some of them go in (what I would call) sideways, and some up-side-down. If the memory card does not go into the slot easily, then try another way.
If you purchased the card separate from the camera, check to be sure it is the correct one. There are so many different options when buying memory cards. Even when they seem to look just alike, some are specific to certain cameras or types of quality and types of media you want to record on them. This determines the memory card formatting, and not all formats go with every camera. (I found that out the hard way.)

eek.
Acetone is a powerful solvent capable of dissolving plastic parts, plastic gears, housing and insulation.
Besides that, it leaves a residue of microscopic crystals which have probably contaminated the highly-polished metal head drum.
Not to mention gumming up the bushes and bearings.
With your next camera, rather use a head-cleaner DV-tape.
