Add a firewire port to your computer and get that working. Then, using a firewire cable connected to the DV port of the camcorder (not USB), you will connect to the firewire port you just installed and import the video.

USB is used only for transferring stills from the memory card or maybe using the camcorder as a web-cam.

To get the video off the miniDV tape, you need to use firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link... all the same thing).

Here is a link to the page to get the driver for this camera:

NV-DS65 Downloads

Click on the "Download" link to the right of USB Drivers.

Another window will open and you will need to click the "I Accept" block and then click Download.

For ease of installation when the Download window opens, select Save and save it to your Desktop.

Note that this is a zip file and will have to be extracted to install. If you need assistance with that, just comment back.

Thanks for using Fixya.

You can download the still pictures which have in camera's memory card (SD Card). If u want download the video in the minidv cassette u have to use dv port which is in camera through with firewire (1394), another end in computer not usb firewire card. If u want download still picture only u can use usb. please reinstall software

There is two reasons. 1 is lens problem Then the shutter (iris motor) not working this sometimes sticks two shtterplates. If u can remove the iris motor & clean the plates & refix it again it can solve. It is very delicate u must be very careful. If iris motor problem u can find out very easly. When u power off the camera u place the camera's lens area to ur ear u can hear the click sound then lens is ok. if no click sound shutter is not working. 2. mostly ccd deffective or ccd drive circuit problem

This is not the problem with that battery. That battery is using for the clock & date memmory. From your question not clear the problem. First you check the flickering condinously or after two or three or some another numbers flickering then giving some intervel then it doing again.
Any way I can give u a solution. Open the black cover remove the flex cable which is connected in between mechanisum and main P.C.B. & remove another flex cable which is connected capston motor & main P.C.B (which is big flex cable just closed to tripod fixing hole. Then clean with sprit & cotton bud. After five minute refixed it again. Mostely it should work. Try this if the problem is not solved tell the details of the flikering of the red light

Go to the website and find your model for the driver.
And for downloading media, I would reccomend FireWire.

i have the same problem. if you could send driver for panasonic nv ds 65, i would be very grateful !

This could be a bas sensor too. Open the door of the camera and point a hair dryer at it from about 12" away. Let that run for 5-10 minutes and see if the message clears. If not, then the internal sensor has a bad connection to it or is defective. In either case, the unit will require service. Since the alignment of the internal mechanism is delicate, I would not recommend a self-service attempt.

Please keep us posted on your progress.
