Help with my panasonic
lee, i had the same problem i think. does the camera turn itself off after 10 seconds or so?? if so you have to check the ribbons on the bottom of camera. there are 5 screws on bottom of camera 2 on the side 1 on the bottom right of the lcd sreen. after all the screws are off check all the connection to the camera, ribbons might have come out a tiny little bit just push them back in make sure you do all of them. doing this fixed my problem hope it helps you. jeff

Camera turns off
the red symbol is the erasure prevention slider on the tape. check it's not on or push the slider on and off prevention. this should fix the red symbol, you might have to do it a couple of times before it works. not sure what F14 is can't find it in the manual. try the solution here. if it still turns off after a few seconds i have another way to fix the power.

Tape cover/container will not stay in closed position
Hi Eagle,
Just faced the same problem with our school Panasonic NV-DS65. Had a serach on th3e net and found some info at http://www.pechorin.com/m/2006/02/10/Panasonic_NV_DS65_not_functioning-255044.html
I wasn't exactly sure what the 'mech connector jock' was but opened up the bottom of the camera anyway. There are seven screws and nothing falls out when you remove the cover! Now I didn't remove or clean any 'jocks' - but with the bottom off you can see the inside a lot better. At this point I just tried to see what held the cassette in place and pushed on the black platye at the bottom of the cassette bay (and probably a couple of other capstans too). Then I inserted the cassette and much to my amazement it clicked back into place. So, not sure if you'll have the same luck, but it really does just appaer to be a mechanical (and fixable) problem.

Erasure prevention
Sounds like a CCD sensor problem ( no image in capture mode but ok in playback ). Replace CCD block and will work fine.

Camcorder won't record or playback
I have the same problem
It seems it is a tape drive problem
I just wanted to say Lots of owners are having the same problem
more over the the 3V battery shows empty on power on while it is not empty
taking the tape out allows you to play with menu
and view the image
* you can also connect to the pc via Firewire connection
and record in the PC hard disk or even change the line input from the menu to AV in and use the Camera as a Analouge to DV Vedio converter
This goes to show that the Camera is woking fine , untill it is asked to move the tape
* The only way to stop the camera from turning off is
1) take out the tape
2) in play back , press play the pause (some poeple claim to have solved the problem that way - has not worked for me )
