Hi,

On these old models of VHS camcorder, I recall they have either RCA outputs, or BNC connectors which will require a BNC adaptor (to convert to RCA).

Using a 3RCA lead, connect the camcorder to the video (and audio) inputs of your DVD recorder.

I'm having difficulty putting a charge on the battery

I had the same problem. I hope you have a battery charger. The many older batteries I have needed charging, but they wouldn't hold a charge when I tried to charge them with the battery charger. My batteries were the kind that had a memory, and I guess that the battery memories are dead. So, I saw that I had a double ended power cord that came with my camera. I took the battery out of the camera and saw a power-in hole. I just tried connecting the double ended power cord to the camera and to a power hole I found on the battery charger. It worked and gave power to the camera. It did not explode. I could not find a manual on any of the many websites. I think that the camera I bought (Panasonic Palmcorder IQ PV-IQ403) doesn't exist in the available manuals. Maybe you can find a double ended power cord and a battery charger on line or in a store.

The following information might be useful to others. The camera cassette door will not open without having the power on to the camera. The camera connects to a TV with RCA cords.

My camera power switch has 2 settings. Use the camera setting to use the camera to record and see what you are recording displayed on the TV. You must change the power switch to the VCR setting in order to play back the recording and see it on the TV. Change the switch back again to use the camera. (You can also see the playback through the viewfinder.)

My camera has a remote control which is stored in a slot. I found that the battery is in a tiny sliding door. I had to use a screwdriver to gently dislodge it from the case, my fingernail was not strong enough. The movable tab had to be pushed inward to release the catch. The coin battery was not corroded. (CR-2025)

In order to play a VHS-C tape, you must have a VHS PlayPak. The cassette door will not open unless you have a battery loaded into the cassette. When the door opens, you can insert the VHS-C tape into the opening. The VHS PlayPak holder is the same size as a regular VHS tape. It can be found on-line.

Onscreen display

I had the same problem when I pushed the wrong button and didn't know which button I had pushed. The Date and Time just blinked. I could change them with the clock buttons. Then I really got frustrated. I saw the display button. I pushed it. It seemed that nothing had happened. Then I pushed it again, and part of the display disappeared. So, I pushed it again and yeah!! the whole display disappeared. So, try pushing the display button enough times to get the display to disappear. You have waited a long time for an answer. I hope you got one before today, 5-18-2009. I am not an expert, and I have no manual. But, I found a way to get rid of the display. I'll try to not push the display button again if I don't really need it. I think that you have to cancel the display before you record. I don't think it can be taken out of the playback.

You could get it repaired at an authorised Panasonic repair shop. Not the sort of repair a layman can undertake.

No you can't get a free replacement. Batteries degrade with use and age, and bad storage makes them fail quicker.

Panasonic Palmcorder model VJAW0032. No audio during playback. Has anyone had similar problems?

Having camera issues is always a pain, Here are a few trouble shooting ideas to see if it can solve the issue. try cleaning the playback head: If the audio issue persists with all recordings, it's possible that the playback head may be dirty. Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the head, affecting the audio quality. Try using a head cleaning tape to clean the playback head following the manufacturer's instructions. Check the audio output connections: Ensure that the audio output connections (e.g., headphone jack, AV output) are secure and properly connected. If you are using external speakers or headphones, try them with other devices to ensure they are functioning correctly. Test with different playback devices: Try playing back the recorded video on a different device like a computer or another video player. This will help you determine if the audio issue is specific to the Palmcorder or if the video file itself is corrupted. Update firmware or software: Check the Panasonic website for any firmware updates or software patches that might address audio playback issues. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for updating your Palmcorder. Lastly Reset to factory settings: If none of the above steps resolve the problem, consider performing a factory reset on the Palmcorder. This will reset all settings to their default values, and it might help if the issue is caused by a software misconfiguration.

I have a Panasonic PV-GS85 palmcorder. The cassette mechanism will not release. When I open the hinged door, I hear a click and then nothing. Is there a manual release for the cassette?

In the Panasonic PV-GS85 palmcorder, there is typically a manual release option for the cassette mechanism. Here's what you can try to manually release the cassette:
  1. Ensure the palmcorder is turned off: Make sure the power is turned off before attempting any manual release.
  2. Locate the manual release switch: On the palmcorder, look for a small lever or switch near the cassette compartment. It is usually labeled "Eject" or "Manual Release."
  3. Engage the manual release: Use your finger or a small tool (such as a pen or paperclip) to gently slide or press the manual release switch. Apply gentle pressure in the direction indicated (usually towards the open position) while pressing the switch.
  4. Open the cassette compartment: While holding or engaging the manual release, try to open the cassette compartment by gently pulling it open. The manual release should override any locking mechanism and allow the compartment to open.
