The main fan assisted oven on a Hotpoint BD35

Is there a black pole sticking out that goes in when you close the door, my Hotpoint freestanding cooker has it on the right hand side, once this is pressed in the fan and heat starts, i had to replace it on my cooker as it went faulty and stopped things working (all I had was the main oven light on, these are usually like a little black box that are situated on the side of the oven just behind the main metal panel on the outside and will normally have 2 pull off spade connectors connected to it. i don't have the same model as you but hopefully this mig help you.

The fan in the main oven won't work unless you move it slightly by hand before turning the oven on. It then starts pretty slowly and speeds up. not sure if it can be resolved or do i need a new oven.

It sounds as though the fan is gummed up (a technical expression). Maybe a little fat has splashed on the fan and it's congealed. Try spraying the fan with a little WD40 (dab it off after about a minute) and run the oven until there is no lingering smell of the lubricant.

Hotpoint dy46 x oven

Hi there,

Usually with ovens not heating up the element has gone and needs replacing. A few checks to do before going to the expense and trouble of replacing are to check the House Power Box Fuses to make sure none a blown - especially look for the one relating to the Oven or Range. If blown replace the fuse wire. If it blows again you have a problem with the power point or appliance. Does the Oven Fan work? If so chances are the oven is getting power as is the element and your house electrical lines to the Oven are fine and the element needs replacing. Not knowing the particular Brand you have amkes it difficult say how to remove the element. Some elements are accessible from inside the oven - others you have to remove the oven and get access from behind by removing a panel. Whatever you do if you do decide to remove the element MAKE SURE you TURN OFF THE POWER to the Oven. Hope this helps.

Regards
Bryan

How do I remove the double oven?

I assume you want to remove it from the housing.
Ensure the power is off to the oven.
Remove 4 screws securing oven to front edge of housing.
With some assistance, slide the oven forward, and bodily lift it clear of the housing.
Make sure there is enough slack in the cable to lift it clear, if not. you will have support it on something whilst doing repair or whatever it is you intend to do.
