The sides were going blurry so i shut it of and it

This is most likely the high voltage flyback in the monitor. Personally, I would not invest any time or money in trying to fix it. If you check out your local craigslist you may be able to find a newer LCD type monitor for next to nothing.

If you do decide to do something with this monitor, please remember the voltage inside is 15,000+ Volts. It is deadly and can cause you a lot of harm and death.

Hello,

It shows that the switch of your monitor is malfunctioning, it is having partial contact, that is why it works atimes.

I advice you replace the switch so as to get maximum effective use of your monitor.

My hp vf15 monitor flickers on and off when it is plugged

17-inch CRT?

Ask your friends -- one of them probably has a "surplus" 17-inch CRT that they will _love_ to give-away to you, to replace yours.

Or, look on CRAIGS LIST for a used 17" LCD screen, for $30 to $40.

Monitor display problem

though itz very unclear n i don't understand the moral meaning of windows going down..!!..n wat is the link of windows going down with ur monitor..

however, itz probably causing from faulty or defective smps or main/mother board..
if not probably itz causing from the monitor itself..

proceed to verify with the below stated steps, only if u r a professional..

DO IT ONLY IF U R A PROFESSIONAL..
..plz do check the following as in order:..
the Hardware part:..
1) check mains/power supply..the fuse, switch, wiring n associated circuitry..

2) [in case of desktop] thesmps itself may b defective/faulty..check the outputs of smps viz. 0v(black~ground); +12v(yellow); +5v (red, green~ps-on, violet~pg&grey~sb); -12v (blue);-5v(white); +3.3v(orange)..
check the battery n adapter [main power], in case of laptops..
replace with a standby n see..

3) unplug mains supply..pick open/remove the cmos battery..check (above +3v)..resit..

4) open the cpu n see if heat is generated..if not..replace the cpu n see..

5) open the CPU Heat-Sink with fan out of thesocket..put some "Heat Sink Compound" (available in local electronicschip level spare market)between the cpu/processor and the CPU Heat Sink*** fan..resit/fit it tightly in position..

6) on main/motherboard..see with a debug card for mb error..may b short..look fordefective capacitors(espabove1000mfd)/mosfets..go through the mb'ssouth bridge n the circuit lie around atx connector..the crystal clockgenerator (if cpu isn't heating up)..
replace with a standby n see..

7)seeif the ram(s) is loose/faulty..open clean/remove carbon & or oxideformed on the teeth with an eraser n resit it..or replace with a standbyn see..

8)remove/clean dustneatly..dust is non-uniform in nature n may causejam/short circuitry/excess resistance n many more..resulting an increasein heat..

9) if all above fails..just try to service the monitor..open and re-sould all the dry soulderings..itz probably is causing due to ur monitor's internal circuit dry-soulds..esp. at the crt base n around the horizontal output section (hot)..

the Software part:..
1)hv a licensed and UPDATEDantivirus installed (i prefer avg/kaspersky,remember, without updationa full version antivirus is useless)..

2) download, install n run microsoft kb890830..http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en..

3) download n run Startup Control Panel..http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Control-Panel/3000-2094_4-10039330.html..'removeall the unnecessary startup items from here..(if u can't find whatto remove, post me/us in ur comment with all the items listed in eachn every tabs herein)..

4) remove all unnecessary software from add/remove programs..

5) download, install n run 'Advanced System Care Pro'..http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Pro/3000-2086_4-10399324.html..

6)disable the following:..
a)'Automatically Restart'right click on my computer->properties->advanced->startupn recovery->(un check on the) Automatically Restart;
b)'Error Reporting'right click onmy computer->properties->advanced->error reporting->disableerror reporting->(uncheck on the) 'but notify me when critical erroroccur'..

7) Increase the size of Virtual Memory, Initial: 1440; Maximum: 2880

if u r not a professional, always better to seek advise from ur system admin/vendor....

Would you please help me, my computer is running

Some computers can be slow or short of hard drive space for quite simple reasons.
Windows and other program hide temporary files in lots of different places
The best option is not always a program or utility and if you want to do as much as you can for FREE like I do then you have a few options.

1. First you need to be in windows explorer.

2. Click TOOLS and FOLDER OPTIONS

3. Now click the VIEW tab

4. Tick the Show Hidden Files And Folders option
Unpick Hide Protected Operating System Files (it may warn you but you can ignore it)

5. Click APPLY then OK

6. NOTE some files may not delete this is OK Also DO NOT DELETE the folder itself where mentioned for cleaning.

7. Using windows explorer go into the WINDOWS folder and look for a directory called TEMP (it is possible there may be more than one)

8. Select all the contents and delete them. Do the same for any other temp folder e.g. temp000

9. Now navigate to Documents and Settings
There are quite a few folders in here that can be cleaned up

10. Look for folders named "Local Settings" In there you will find more TEMP folders that can be cleaned out

11. Now look inside the Temporary Internet Files. Delete anything EXCEPT cookies. Otherwise passwords for some sites you have stored may need you to type the password again.

12. Do this for each user / profile you see.

13. Now check the C: drive itself and see if there are any Temp folders and clean those out too

To prevent accidental deletion of any files windows needs you should go back to step (4) and change the two settings back to their original

Keeps turning off

Make sure the VGA cable is plugged in all the way and screwed down. These units were made in 2002 so it may just be too old to go on. A repair would probably cost more than a new or used flat screen LCD.

Monitor turning on and off

try to get a second monitor that you know works and plug it into the computer. This will tell you if it is the monitor or the connection to the computer. If everything appears ok with the new monitor then you have to get a new one which is probably the case

Sorry for the news. Next time there is a big thunderstorm unplug everything and make sure that your computer is plugged into a surge protector at all times. This will save a lot of money and headaches

Hp pavilion mx 75 monitor displays a flat line across the screen

The life expectancy is about 5 years. You can fix it, but it's not worth trying to track down the power board for a crt, it's going to cost you more than a new monitor. There are flat panels for under a hundred dollars now, you will save that on electricty over a two year period. Although some folks just like them better than lcd's that is no longer an issue, with the faster resolutions in the past few years you will be better off going for a new lcd. HP's website is the most likelly place to obtain service for your monitor, but I just got an email from Dell this morning and you can get a new 19 inch for about a hundred dollars from their reurbished shop if you really want to save some money, and a 24 was only around $200.

Can you tell me where USB port is located in HP pavilion MX75

USB ports are located on the back and also on the front on newer desktop PCs. These are on the computer tower - not the monitor as your posting is categorized. They are rectangular slots with four copper contacts inside.
