When set to wash, cycle won't start

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Check this link to replace the inlet valve:

http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1408/how-to-replace-the-inlet-valve-on-a-washer-dr.html

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Hotpoint aqarius wash/machine. wont drain door

It looks like you have 2 issues here, so here are 2 solutions for you:

As far as the door not opening goes:

This is a common problem, often associated with a momentary power failure when the controller doesn't get time to reset and return to an idle state before the machine gets power back and it gets "confused". Regardless of the cause, you will almost certainly find that unplugging from the mains (Not just powering off on the button, as some door locks have a sneak circuit, even when the power is turned off at the button) and leaving the machine undisturbed for a full 20 minutes will allow a reset, the door lock will disengage and all will be well when you power back up. Additionally, on older machines with analog program selectors, turn the selector to an end of program setting before you power it off. Just a thought here: If there is water in the machine above the level of the door, you are going to get wet when you open it! The simple solution to this is to pull the machine out and tip it back about 45 degrees, so the water sits to the rear of the drum. NOW, you can open the door and bail out the water without getting a wet floor Regarding the failure to empty out water: This is almost certainly a simple problem with your empty pump filter being clogged. The empty cycle is timed and if it can't get all the water out in time because the filter is blocked and slowing the empty down, then it will fail safe and won't step on to the final spin cycle with excess water in the drum. While it's trying to get the water evacuated, you will probably see the machine doing a slow tumble for up to 8 minutes and you may also hear the empty pump running too. You need to locate and clean the filter. Depending on the model (not familiar which with the model you mention) there is probably a round filter cap on the front of the machine at the bottom (It may be behind a small door or hidden behind a clip on panel on the bottom) Many models of this design also have a small hose to the right of the filter cap that you can pull out, remove a plug from and drain off any water in the filter before you remove the filter and get your floor wet, so take a look for this before you remove the filter and get soaked.

OR On Some Hotpoint machines in particular, you will need to access the debris trap from the back of the machine. If there is no filter at the front, pull the machine out and you will see a roughly oval panel at the bottom of the rear of the machine. Unscrew the 3 or 4 screws and unclip. Directly below the drum, you will now see a rubber "Cup" like bulge in the black pipe, with a plastic tube connected to a plastic pipe. The cup is held in place by a large jubilee clip. Unscrew the clip, pull off the rubber boot to expose the debris trap (A conical plastic cage with a ping pong ball in it) Take out the ball and the plastic trap, clean out the debris and replace the trap and the ball (Note that the cage may have a slot in it that locates in the rubber boot, make sure it lines up, or it won't reassemble correctly). Now push the boot back onto the fitting at the bottom of the drum where it came from and tighten up the jubilee clip, making sure that it is fitted correctly (it too may have a small slot out of it that fits around a protrusion on the bottom of the housing). Give the boot a tug and reassure yourself that it is secure. Replace the panel on the back of the machine and test. All should now be well.

I have a hotpoint washing

Hi.

You have a balancing problem.

The first thing to do is checking floor level and putting the machine at balance as explained in the user manual (see
Installation and User Instructions for the Aquarius Range). If that does not work there are internal faults that may result in heavy shaking during spin part of the cycle. Such problems are mostly mechanical (eg. struts, bearings, rollers, springs), the machine must be disassembled to locate the problem.

If you need parts see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Regards.

Hi. I used my washing

The transit bolts are there to stop the drum banging about and denting the chasis when it's being transported. Provided that you haven't run it through a rough spin cycle then the chances are that there is no damage whatsoever. You're not the first or last person to do this. Don't panic, it will be fine :-)

Hotpoint WMA34 diagram

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
???
I'm so sorry but this forum is not able, nor in a position, to supply any type of manual, parts list, installation instructions, electrical or schematic diagrams direct; it's just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home and from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)
Also members on Fixya are not 'affiliated' to, or representative of, any manufacturer at all, just using their experience gained probably over many years.
Manual
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount.
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have the hotpoint aquarius

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Aquarius W2540 Water left in fabric

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(same again!)
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Clothes stretched in washing machine, new machine

Hi Hilary from retired Englishman in SW France,

Please do not take this the wrong way but you appear to have the wrong idea of for what the FixYa forum is here. Also members on Fixya are not 'affiliated' to, or representative of, any manufacturer at all, just using their experience gained probably over many years.

If you have washed the clothes in accordance with the labels on them what I would suggest is that you complain DIRECT to your vendor first or contact the manufacturer to see if either can help you.

Is this machine a cold water feed only?

I don't know this particular model, but I don't think so! Check the back of the machine, and see if you have two hoses to connect to the taps. If you only have one hose, see if you can find where one came from. If there is a place where a hose should be, you'll have to buy another hose, and your problems will be solved.

What is error code F05?

F05 - Pressure switch jammed on full, your pump/filter/outlet hose is blocked. Make sure you clean it all out with the power off. The pump and filter are located under the drum but your outlet hose may be plugged as well. If there is no obstructions in the drain assemblies then your pressure switch may be bad. First disconnect your machine from the mains power supply. Remove panel at rear/bottom of the machine (cross head screwdriver required). This reveals drain pump (back right corner, as you face rear of machine). To release/remove pump, slide assembly to left and lift (requires a little effort). As mentioned, there will be a fair amount of water in the pump/pipes, so ensure a bowl and absorbent cloths are to hand.
Unscrew two Jubilee clips and three further screws (requiring Allen key).
Clear debris, flush pipes and reassemble.

If this info is helpful a vote with the thumbs up would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for using Fix Ya
