The screen shows "Unable to

If you look at the Brother website you will find a trouble shooting guide for your machine.

In the guide, for the error you quote Brothers guidance is to check for a stuck piece paper, however it also states that if the printhead is hard over to one side (righthand side if memory serves me correct), then to contact Brother. If you do so, Brother will tell you it needs to be serviced by a Brother agent, which will likely cost you more than a new one !

If it isnt a stuck piece of paper, the problem is due to the fact that Brother machines excessively self-clean. Each time they self-clean a small amount of ink is dumped in to a holding tank/sponge. When a predefined number of self-clean operations have been performed, the machine refuses to print and gives the error message you have stated. Brother state that the tank/sponge must be replaced before the counter is reset, again by a Brother agent.

However, there is a way of reseting the self-clean counter yourself - if you Google your model number and the error code somewhere in the results you'll find how to do it. The only risk of doing this without changing the tank/sponge is that it will eventually overflow and leak out the bottom, but I did my Brother all in one some time ago and have had no problems yet.

Color printing problem

You probably set the grayscale option in a program. When you start to prin and want color, you should be able to click on properties on the print screen and will see an option to change to color.

MFC 210C machine error 4F

Hi!

To resolve the issue you'r facing with, you need to access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart, hopefully without the error code 4F.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Brother MFC210c Repetitive Paper Jam

Hello Elihu10, Your paper jam may be caused by either a small piece of paper stuck in the paper path, or more likely during the moving process the removable rear paper path piece was somehow knocked loose and is not fully seated and locked into place. It has 2 tabs on it, just squeeze the tabs and remove this item from the printer, check for any obstructions, then just push it back into place. Hopefully it is now all fixed! Good Luck! Rich Lilja

My brother mfc j220 canoot

It looks like the magenta print head nozzels are blocked.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

How do I remove and replace the ink absorber pad/tank on my Brother MFC - J220

The ink absorber tank is buried deep within the machine, and in Brother's terms a "non user replaceable item". If you fancy a challenge, you need to remove the upper cover of the machine and the tank is located on the right hand side, just in fornt of the ink cartridge unit. If your machine has a document feeder, this needs to be removed first by lifting the little "hatches" that hide the wires to/from the reader, and disconnecting the wires. Once the hatch on the left hand side has been lifted, this ,also allows the support strut to be unclipped. The doc feeder can then be hinged right back at which point it can be lifted off its hinges. Brother state that the hoses which connect to the maintance unit (the clever bit that does all the head cleaning business) to the tank "must" be replaced as well. In my expereince, so long as you're careful when removeing them from the old tank and connecting them to the new one, they don't leak. I don't bother replacing the tank - I pull out the ink-soaked padding (carefully as it drips everywhere) and then put some sponge or thick paper towel in instead. Make sure you put tape over the hole once you're finished in case ink spashes out.

Slow printing

Check that the default setting for print quality on your printer driver hasn't been set to "Fine". In your Opertaing System, find your printer (in XP it's under Control Panel / Printers and Faxes) and select Properties. This should then bring up the settings for the driver. Fine printing quality takes over double the time "Normal" quality takes so would considerably slow your printing.
