If you brought the heater to our shop, and gave the above description, the first thing that we would do is check the air pump pressure.

Then, if the pressure is correct (not just close) we would check the photocell for signs of insect nest or something similar blocking the view of the eye.

You must troubleshoot to find out if the problem is fuel related or electronics related- maybe these tips will help (click for link).

Plugged nozzle? Fuel filter clogged? look for the simple things.

You will need to replace the pilot safety or commonly called Thermocouple. It is the probe located in the flame disc and works its way back to the gas valve. Remove it and take it to a good hardware store. You may have to purchase a longer one but you can keep it coiled to make it fit. Real easy to replace.

High limit switch would be first point Ken's repair

Themcoupter may be bad would be a start point in checking it. then the control board,then the gas valve control

you should clean the thermocoupler if it need to be replace the new one will be in a kit so you will need no etra parts

i would say its blocked in the line to the burners no fuel flow needs cleaning for fuel to flow

i have the exact same heater with the exact same problem. tested the thermocouple seems to be fine, tested the relay, it seems to be fine, could it be the gas valve????

Replace thermocoupler you tighten it to tight. Ken's Repair

Yes there is a filter. Pull up on the fuel line, or the rubber grommet that goes into the tank with the fuel line through it. There were different types of filter used. One is inside a black plastic tube. You can pick it out of the tube with a pick. Another style is located on top of the tank and is of white plastic. Your fuel delivery problem may be air related. The air pump is on the back of the blower motor, and meters a set volume of air to **** the fuel out of the tank and blow it through the nozzle. This air pressure is stated on the data plate on your heater, probably about 3.6 psi. The air filters on the air pump could also be dirty causing the air output to be reduced, and thus low fuel flow. Also check for air leaks at the pump. Spray soapy water on the black plastic cover and look for bubbles, which are of coarse air leaks.

The safety is turning it off because it is not lighting. You did not mention if it was actually trying to light, or if it was just the motor running. If it is not lighting, take the top cover off and watch the ignitor. Depending on the type of ignitor, it will either glow or spark when you plug the heater in. This should happen before the fan starts running. Once the fan starts, you should be able to see a mist of fuel coming out of the nozzle. If there is no fuel spray you may have an air pump problem, which is on the back of the motor, or the fuel screen in the tank may be plugged.
1. Check for ignition source
2. Blower motor should start, if you have ignition
3. Fuel should spray out of nozzle, if not check filter and check for air flow out of the pump.
4. If you do not have any air flow, or not enough air flow check the pump. Pressure out is critical.
5. If pressure is too low check for leaks around the pump. Spray soapy water on the back side of the motor/pump housing. The plastic pump cover is bad about cracking, and the cracks are very hard to see. The plastic cover could also be loose on the pump.
6. While on this end of the pump; the filters need to be clean, as they will affect the pump pressure and upset the whole apple cart.

My unit is a kerosene 35000 btu unit...just had similar issue.
It is very possible that the spark plug is

1. fouled out (dirty)
2. mis-gapped

take the top cover off, you will see the plug. There is a sheetmetal plate held on by two screws holding the ground, plug, and nozzle together. It is easier to just remove the plate (you will have problems with the plug nut if you don't).

remove the plug with a plug socket, probably 5/8.
I used brake parts cleaner to spray off the electrode of the plug then a wire brush to clean it.

check your plug gap...this might be crucial. my gap was specified on a label stuck on the inside of the bottom of the body. The plug on my unit was way too small. Adjust gap if necessary using feeler guages.

reinstall parts and plate. (I actually tack-welded the plug nut into place for ease of maintenance later). Note that the electrode needs to be a specific angle, relative to nozzle....probably diagrammed on the same label as the gap spec.

replace top and see if she'll fire up.

...last note...also might check your fuel pickup/filter. It is located behind the side panel in the unit

There is a flame sensor on these units that senses that the flame is lit....it can become defective over time...it should be right on the housing right where the flame comes out of the nozzle and should have 2 leads coming off it...you can contact the manufacturer to find where and who carries parts for your model.
