I have a Hoover windtunnel,
I think this is a common problem, as the actual switch is located behind the cleaning tools caddy. The switch is toggled via a long, plastic rod connected to the thumb slider on the handle. It's a comically poor design. I'm not sure, but I think you'd have to replace the entire handle assembly if the slider no longer works. An easier solution is to simply plug the vacuum into a surge protector with an on/off switch.
I can sweep the whole
check the entire route of the dirt from the rollers to the bag, in both places, the roller path as well as the Hose path
Replace on/off switch on hoover vacuum
My wife picked one up on the side of the road that someone had tossed. The power switch would not turn off. I took the two bolts out of the top part of the handle, and then removed the screws along the back. This will remove the required panels to access the On/Off switch. Once I found the actual on/off button, I found it to be frozen in the "ON" position. After manipulating it for a few minutes, I got the switch to work. This machine now operates great, and I now have a Hoover :)
What's the best way to clear Clogged up intake
the best way to clear the hose is to use a wire coat hanger to fish out the debris ( bend the wire straight and then bend a small hook in one end ).
also make sure you remove the floor plate and fish out that hose area.

Why doesn't the dirt sensor
This is a common problem with this model. There is a microphone in the rear duct that is not firmly seated. Usually this can be cured by removing the duct at the rear of the vacuum, that the hose attaches to, and using a small screwdriver to push around the outer edges of the small round microphone button. It may not look as if anything is happening, but this will usually cure the problem. I like to put a small piece of sponge or rubber against the mike to hold it more firmly in place prior to re-assembly.
I just bought a Hoover
Be sure the on/off button and the power drive button are both in the OFF position before installing the handle. The actual switch inside must also be in the OFF position.
