Sunpentown SPT IM-100 Portable Ice Maker, for up to 2.5 lbs of Ice - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Tray is full but doesn t stop making ice
The ice sensor may not be working. You can replace it if you are
comfortable working on this type of equipment. It plugs into the circuit board. The sensor can be found on the web but you can't get it from the distributor of the unit.
Icemaker
check your water level probe make sure it is clean they will build up dirt and not seance water level which makes machine think it is low on water and this will not let refrigeration come on. if not dirty then replace water level probe.
Ice full light on
There is a float switch or sensor in the basket. Have you got a manual?

Add water light stays on
I have the SPT IM-100 Portable Ice Maker. After about 2 months, it stopped, telling me that it needed water, when of course it was full of water. I did alot of digging on the Internet to find a solution. There was none. It finally occurred to me that the water sensor might be calcified with our hard water here in Reno. BINGO!!!! I ran several cycles with lemon juice and vinegar (you pick your favorite non-toxic acid), and the damned thing started up again as if brand new.
My Sunpentowm IM100 just stop
Hi,
This ice maker can be cycled manually, to determine if a complete cycle is taking place, and if it will fill with water. To cycle this ice maker, remove the front cover of the ice maker and turn the small gear in front counterclockwise, or you can lift up on the ejector blade, until it starts turning on its own. If the ice maker makes a complete cycle and fills properly, the ice maker thermostat will need to be replaced. If it cycles but doesn't fill, either the water valve is defective or the ice maker is not sending power to the valve. A voltage check will need to be made to determine this. You might want to have a technician make this check.
Hope this helps.

Ice machine stopped making ice.
I had a similiar problem. The unit would only flash deficient. I removed the rear cover (3 screws along the back top, 3 screws underneath, and the 2 feet), then opened the panel to access the control board and disconnected the temp. sensor. Working great now, but the deficient continues to flash. Hopefully i will be able to find a replacement part.
I just received a Sunpentown
The outside male thread drain should have a cap to hold the water; this is the drain for draining the unit. Filling the unit is as you described, simply lift the lid and add water into the tub. It should not be leaking water from under the unit ... that could be a problem. Good luck!
The unit just quit working.
I couldn't find much information about this unit on the net. What I think it might be is that the sensor or control board that responds to the sensor is failing, and, thinking the ice is made, turning off. On this site, in the first review, someone mentioned something being loose inside the unit and just needing tightening, so perhaps that will be a clue:

Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.
When you start machine up the ice shovel moves
I just fixed one of these. I had to take the motor the drives the shovel off the unit and fabricate the pin that goes through the motor shaft. The original pin that goes through the motor shaft obviously wasn't made of stainless steel or aluminum and it rusted away. Take a look at yours and see if the shaft pin is missing. You will need to take the back panels off, there are 6 screws on the bottom of the unit, and two silver screws on the large back panel. Take those off and you will expose the refrigeration unit. Take the screws out that hold the lid on and place them with the others. These will be about an eighth of an inch longer than the ones that came out of the bottom. You will then need to unplug the motor from the two wires, one is red, one is white. Take the two screws that hold the motor on and then remove to motor. The shaft pin is perpendicular to the plane of the motor shaft. If it's not there, your going to have your work cut out for you as the remnants of the original pin is probably rusted solid to the motor shaft. Drill this out if you can't knock it out. I made the new pin out of a stainless steel screw that I ground the threads off of. I then super-glued the new shat pin into the shaft after I cut it to length.
