My tv shuts off at random times and when I turn it

tv turning off automatically
for first unplug the main power cord of the tv for couple of minutes and then reconnect it.also before reconnecting the power cord of the tv again remove all the external device wires connected at its back such as dvd player/vcr etc etc.just connect only tv wire and check out.if still the same problem then its quite possible that the capacitors and ic on the circuit board are getting short in between so the circuit is not getting completed and cutting in between so the tv power led comes but no picture comes up..in this case the circuit board needs to be checked with a multimeter.the faulty and burned out component part should be detected and then should be replaced with the help of soldering iron.to make it proper.to avoid further damage i suggest you that do not on the tv again and again as it will short some more tiny components and the reparing cost will increase as per that.at present its the normal circuit short problem in the tv get it repaired before using the tv again.

Olevia 32in" no power at all

After taking the screws out and removing the back, you will see a power supply(where master switch and cord connector are). Remove the 4 screws on the aluminum cover plate to gain access to the fuse. Using a voltmeter, with the power on and switch on, measure the voltage on each side of the round fuse located just behind the cord connector. If voltage is 0, fuse is good. If voltage between 115 and 125 V, replace fuse or have fuse replaced. I think it is a 6.3Ah 250V class fuse that is soldered into the board. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH SOLDERING TECHNIQUES AND PRECAUTIONS, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS. IF YOU ARE NOT FULLY AWARE OF ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY TO MAKE THIS REPAIR HAVE A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN DO IT FOR YOU!!!!!!

If a new power supply is needed, contact me and I can point you in the right direction.

I have a clear picture, but no sound

HelloCheck its speaker first. If found good, the audio output IC on the sound card has damaged. It should be replaced with same type and number. If ic is not available at local electronic spare part selling shops, you have to repalce the audio board as card basis. OK.

My sisters TV went out. At first no power so we

The answer is both easy and hard at the same time.

It's easy because there aren't many boards in a TV that would let you say "there's no power" - it's the power board and the main (computer) board.

If your new power doesn't cut it then the only other remaining must be the main board.

Sometimes there's also another auxilary board that supplements the main board.

More interestingly, the two would very rarely go bad at the same time.

Unless you had a power surge in BOTH the power line and the cable in which case it is usually cheaper to replace the whole TV than to replace board after board.

Anyway, the main board you're looking for is ZAT-520M/B .
ShopJimmy has it for only $40 which is pretty cheap.

The auxilary board I was talking about in here is SC0-P501U05-000 .

Frankly...I am not sure I wouldn't suggest you selling the TV to a local repair shop and using the proceeds to buy a new one.

If you have to replace more than one board in a TV that's usually the best thing to do.

Tv won't come sometimes with

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
Capacitors are less than a buck a piece typically, and can be ordered online from places like www.digikey.com. They charge $8 for shipping, but the parts typically arrive next business day.

How To Use My Olevia

There are a number of ways this can be done. It will depend a lot on the graphics card you are using in your computer. All graphics cards released for the last few generations from both ATI and Nvidia (and all Intel IGPs labeled HD) have an HDMI output. This is the simplest option. You simple connect the TV via HDMI, set it to the right output, and power up the computer.

If you do not wish to use the speakers in the TV, then you can manually set the audio output to default to your other speakers.

If your graphics card/computer does not have an HDMI output, you will need to buy an adapter for one of the other outputs. DVI to HDMI would be the best second options. Then S-Video (which should look like a circle with dots a a line in it) to component (5 inputs, 3 video/2audio). The adapter will only have plugs for the video.

Any connections beyond this should be avoided as they will not be able to match the resolution of the TV. Forcing the TV or graphics card to upscale say a VGA connection to the proper resolution will create a lot of distortion and give you a terrible image.

What do i doo if

That the way this model works, the Blue is lit UP when the TV is OFF, the LED will turn OFF when the TV is power on.
Common problem with this model is the power supply module (bad caps), and bad inverter transformers in the backlights inverter board.
It has pretty good picture when it works for its age.

Check to see if you do have 24vdc and BL_ON feeding the inverter board.
