Freezer works but frigde isn't working
once ice forms on the freezer coils there is no air flow. I had the same thing. I suspect your defrost cycle is compromised. Could be the bimetal switch, defrost timer or defrost heater element.
Icemaker in brand new fridge makes ice that tastes like mildew

Water taste and smells like mildew
Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.
How about the house tap water same odor and taste or just the fridge?
If it is just the Fridge I am assuming your unit has been around for a while.
If you have a mildew build up in the plastic tubing of your ref it can be a tedious cleaning procedure to get it all out of the system The stuff ends up sticking to all of the plastic tubing inside the unit and is so hard to get rid of. What you can do is have all of the plastic lines changed out in the Refridgerator from the water valve outlet to the the water in door and icemaker. It is just time consuming to do it.
Water supply to unit off for the steps below.
You can try using a small baster (I use a hair dye applicator bottle) and a bleached water mix that is not too strong. I would recommend that you start AFTER the water valve in the bottom of the unit. You have got to be able to introdue enough pressure through the system so that when the water in door switch is activate that the bleached mixture will flow out of the spout. You will have to introduce the water until you can smell it in the water you get from the glass you used to catch the water. Then let it stand for an hour. Re-intorduce the same amount of bleached water as before and wait another hour. After the second mixed water bleaching reconnect the water supply and purge it at the water in door outlet with a glass.
Probably sounds a bit much but this is from experience and believe me it does take lots of time.
I am sure this is not what you were expecting but it really is the only way your going to rid yourself of the bad smelling and tasting water CURSE.
Thanks for using FixYa!
Kelly
Freezer drawer jars open at upper right corner
The lower hinge on each door
may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this
assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not
seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if
it rises up when opened.
