Our upside down fridge/freezer started to beep. Upon opening the fridge the thermostat lights on the back was flashing red then green then red again anyone help?

This is a connection issue between one of the temperature sensors and the electronics, the plugs on the sensors need to be removed and cleaned with contact cleaner and you need to make sure that the contact are pushing firmly against the circuit boards, there are 2 control units, one behind the fridge beside the compressor and one in the back of the fridge which you get to by simply pulling the middle rear panel out after removing the shelves, just be careful as you can damage the plastic.

F&P E442B - Knocking/cracking noise

It is probably the buildup of ice around the condensor (located behind white panel in freezer). I chekcked mine and the ice had pushed the panel oajar and the condensor unit was out of place too. All due to the excess buildup of ice. I removed the ice tonight.. will tell you if this fixes noise problem. Also our fridge was not cooling ..freezer ok.. hope this fixes this problem too- otherwise i'll test the fan (located behind panel in freezer compartment.

Fisher and Paykel E402B. Freezer element icing up

Hi,the problem is probably from the defrost heater or the defrost thermostart, please check these components to see the one that is bad,but from your description, i think the problem is from the defrost thermostart,it's bad, hence no more functioning, which implies it has to be replaced.

Thanks and take care

E522B throws circuit after being on for short time. Compressor?

Possibly but more likley the defrost element in the freezer, not a job a handyman can do, get a qualified technician to do it, about a $50 part.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

Freezer is icing up and

Hello,
That is going to be a problem with one of the components in the automatic defrost system. It is supposed to automatically defrost. Turning it off overnight to melt it will defiently help. If you are mechinacally inclined here is what to check to see why it isn't defrosting;

DEFROST HEATER ...remove back wall of freezer and you will see a black heater at the bottom of the coil thats frosted up,it looks similar to the bake element in your oven,or in some cases it is going to be a spiraled wires inside of a glass tube. To check it,use a multimeter set to the lowest ohms of resistiance setting and follow and find the wires at the top of that frosted coil,unplug/disconnect those wires and check for continuty with around 5-20 ohms of resistiance. If it has that amount of ohms the heater is good. If your meter display does not change or displays OL the defrost heater is broke and needs to be replaced

DEFROST TERMINATION THERMOSTAT... it's round and has 2 wires and clips to the top of that frosted up coil. IT MUST BE CHECKED WHEN COLD SO BEST TO DO WHEN FROST IS STILL BUILT UP. To check it disconnect the wires on it and check for ZERO ohms of resistiance. As with the heater if the meter display OL or doesnt change,it is the problem

DEFROST CONTROL...it is hard to check for a semi unskilled person and if the heater or defrost t-stat check good its going to be the problem. It will NOT be in the freezer it could be on back wall or inside the control panel in the refrigerator section.

Good luck,
Gene

While these pictures are for a different brand ALL refrigerators are similar and may look some what different than your but will be similar enough to yours

I bought a second hand

I was not able to find a manual for your model; perhaps the company has not posted going back this far. Your model seems to be available on the resale market in Australia. If your model is not from Australia, vist the following site http://www.fisherpaykel.com.au/customercare/userguide/ and in the bottom of the webpage select the country the refrigerator was purchased. verify your model number and then go to Customer Care > Find A User Guide. Use the search fields to find your User Guide; if you leave the model number blank and select rerfigertaor you wil get a selection of all the available User Guides for refrigerators.

The Fisher and Paykel site seemed to only has one User Guide for all their refrigeration model but it does not list as applicable for the N249T. See here: http://www.fisherpaykel.com//admin/pdfs//pdf_usecares/837186-Ref_Freezer-UG_NZ-AU-UK-PAC.pdf

However on page 18 it does describe the Temperature Control:

1 is for the warmest setting

7 is for the coldest setting

The Problem Solving Section on page 29 advises that when food is freezing in the refrigerator the temperature setting is not correct or food is placed directly in front of air outlets.

If the unit is not shutting off when the desired temperature is reached there may be a problem with the thermostat.

Hope this is of some assistance.
